I recently blogged in Green Hair How To about all the hair friendly ways you could go green for everyday or a special hair event such as St. Pat's Day, Mardi Gras or similar. One thing I didn't cover in my last blog was the concept that green hair should match skin tone.
Famous current and past green hued celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have the world's best hair colorists and make-up artists on their speed dial.
Obviously they constantly get advice from their experts regarding the best hues to select for their skin and eye tones as well as their fashions.
Hair consumers might not be as lucky to have color or make-up gurus on hand to advise whether to go with a deep forest, rich emerald or light lime green.
Any green hair you select - temporary, semi-perm or permanent - will most likely bump up against your hairline.
The last thing most people want is to put the energy into going green only to have the hue clash with their skin and eye tones. If you're planning to adding green to your hair check out the following tips listed below:
1. If you know your Season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) select green hues which are recommended for you.
Note: Whenever possible get a copy of a color swatch and hold it up to your skin to determine how the color will look against your skin and with your eyes. Keep in mind if you must bleach your current base hair color before adding a green dye, the swatch color will be more realistic then if you apply the green to your current hair color which can alter the results.
As an example, a person identified as a Winter season should always select jewel tones such as emerald, tourmaline, pine green, true green. Other greens which might work great include deep green moss or deep sea foam green. Manic Panic's {{asin=B00265MIR0,text=Green Envy}} cream hair color formula might be a good choice.
Famous Winters include Selena Gomez, Megan Fox, Anne Hathaway, Lea Michele, and Halle Berry.
Springs might look best in greens with a yellow base such as chartreuse, Kelly Green, lime green, celery or similar bright yellow green shades.
Famous celebrity Springs include Cameron Diaz, Amanda Seyfried, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson, and Kate Hudson. Manic Panic's {{asin=B0010O0DWA,text=Electric Lizard Green}} Hair Color has a yellow base.
Special Effects {{asin=B001TLESS4,text=Iguana Green}} also has a bright green hue which would probably look best with a Spring. Keep in mind that the Special Effects green hair dyes usually require the base hair be bleached before application. This is also the case with Manic Panic green hair dyes.
Summer seasoned people might do best to select greens with a cool blue base such as blue green, Myrtle Green and Mountain Meadow.
Famous Summers include Emma Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Naomi Watts.
Manic Panic {{asin=B000NSV792,text=Enchanted Forest Green}} has a blue/green base which might work for many Summer seasoned people.
Fall seasoned people do well with greens with a brown or copper base such as dark green Army khaki, dark moss or olive. Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, and Natalie Portman are famous Fall/Autumn seasons.
2. If you select the proper green hair hue for your skin and eye tone to work with your seasonal color palette you will reap, as a minimum, the following benefits:
a. Your eyes, skin and hair will shimmer and glow.
b. Imperfections such as skin discolorations, under eye circles or similar will seem to fade or be reduced which means less make-up.c. You may appear brighter, more alert.
d. The right color may make you look younger, more sophisticated, more fun _ fill in the blank.3. If you select an improper green hue for your skin and eye tones you can expect the following beauty challenges:
a. Your eyes, skin and hair look washed out, faded or drained
b. Skin imperfections are highlighted including dark eye circles, yellow teeth, double-chins, wrinkles or similar.c. Your face will get lost in the glare of the hair color.
d. You may look older, trashy or someone who could wind up on the Glamour Magazine's Don't Lists.Summary
