Rossano Ferretti's Invisible Scissors Hair-Cutting Method

Rossano Ferretti Invisible Scissors Haircut Rossano Ferretti, Inventor of The Invisible Scissors Haircut Method

World-famous Rossano Ferretti utilizes his invisible scissors patented hair-cutting method, or “metodo," around the world.

Ferretti is a third-generation hairstylist from Parma, Italy, with many award-winning salons worldwide — including the Rossano Ferretti Hairspa in Manhattan.

This breakthrough technique follows the natural way that hair falls to deliver volume and movement without the telltale signs of scissors.

The Ferretti Metodo Cut

The renowned hairdresser told the LA Times about his method, "The scissors don't do the haircut, the scissors are an elongation of my hands.  My body movement around the hair, following the natural fall of the hair, makes the haircut."

Ferretti added, "It's about texturizing the hair."

The famous hairdresser uses customized scissors he created and patented.

My introduction to Ferretti's Hairdetails

I've been aware of Rossano Ferretti since October of 2010, when his press team sent me photos of his latest creation.

Ferretti created a gorgeous line of hair accessories known as Hairdetails.

Ferretti introduced his collection in time for inclusion in Holiday shopping lists. Unfortunately, they were too late for the Holiday Gift Guides and media coverage.

As a side note, if you want your new lines featured for the holidays, they must be available as early as spring.  That allows plenty of time for holiday story inclusion.

Rossano Ferretti Hairdetails were ultra-chic

The internationally renowned hairstylist expanded on his highly personalized approach to hair with the introduction of Rossano Ferreti Hairdetails.

His ultra-chic collection of headbands and hair clips were handmade in Italy.

The gorgeous hair accessory line was available at Ferretti Salons and exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman.  The initial designs caught my eye.

Sadly, the hair accessory line vanished along with many other famous lines available back in 2010.  It's tough to make much profit off hair jewels, but that's another story for another day.

Ferretti ensured that each design was tailored to the wearer’s individual style.  Every one of his Hairdetails pieces was crafted by skilled artisans of the finest materials — silk, satin, chiffon, cashmere, wool, leather, crocodile, and Swarovski crystals.

Ferretti said that the designs are “Very elegant.”

“But just as importantly, these pieces are super comfortable, because they are created by someone with an intimate understanding of the head — the most precious and vulnerable part of the body.”

The pieces ranged in price back in 2010, from $45 to $258, offering options for every budget.

The hair accessory line is no longer available, but Ferretti's hairstyling empire is thriving.

From humble beginnings in a tiny Italian town, the grandson of a barber and son of a hairdresser has built a hairstyling empire that continues to delight people around the globe.

The hair maestro is "the most expensive hairdresser in the world."

As of 2025, his haircuts run approximately $1,500, excluding tax and tip.

Ferretti told The L.A. Times in 2012, "You can only charge that if you're worth it."

Like all the top names in the hairdressing industry, you will pay a high price for the very best results.

A-lister clients

Many fans around the world, including a long list of celebrities, believe that Ferretti is worth every penny.

International A-listers like Kate Middleton, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Wintour, Dakota Johnson, Pippa Middleton, Sophie Windsor, Poppy Delevingne, Richard Gere, Al Pacino, Reese Witherspoon, and others have been spotted at Rossano Ferretti's Salons around the world.

Ferretti haircuts are works of art imbued with near-scientific precision.  Luckily, they are available at Rossano Ferretti salons worldwide.

Daily Hair Tip
Whenever possible limit or avoid using a brush on curly tresses. Instead use a widetooth pick or comb with "hair friendly" edges that won't rip or tear fragile curls.
