Wearing the right hair accessory in the proper color, whether it's a headband, hair clip, barrette or hair comb can impact your overall mood.

According to psychologists Marci G. Fox, Ph.D., Leslie Sokol, Ph.D., and pressure expert Paul Sullivan (as quoted in the March 2011 issue of Women's World Magazine) wearing certain colors can help with moods.

An great example of how hair accessories can impact your mood is the impact of wearing the color pink. Fox, Sokol and Sullivan explain that you can instantly erase worries by wearing pink as an accessory.

Pop on a pink headband, hair flower, set of jeweled bobbies or a comb and the experts promise it will instantly nix nerves.

By adding a touch of pink hair accessories to your outfit you may experience feelings of serenity and blast away any feelings of worry or anxiety.

The Power Of Color journal also confirms that wearing pink is very effective. In fact, if you want an extra dose, take off your pink headband or other hair accessory and gaze it for a few minutes for even more calming power.

No Other Color Helps With Relaxation As Well

The notion that the color pink can help erase nerves and worry has actually be around for awhile.

In 1978, while studying at City University in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Alexander Schauss, along with Dr. John N. Ott, experimented with a certain color of pink, later to be called Baker-Miller.

They “observed relaxation of the subjects when they stared at a 18 by 24 inch card-board plate” of this color of pink. They found that no other color consistently resulted in the same relaxation.

While it's possible to carry around the color pink, why not enjoy the benefits of the color while embellishing your hairstyle at the same time? After all, why not look pretty in pink while being calm and relaxed at the same time?

Summary

Want to really calm your nerves? Wear pink accessories while also humming softly. British researchers confirm that whether it's your favorite tune or just random sounds, softly humming for 60 seconds before entering a high-pressure situation will activate your brain's pleasure center and increase the number of relaxing alpha brain waves.
