Hair Snippets: Scarlett Johansson's Tousled Updo Hairstyle

Introduction

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson turned heads at the LA Iron Man 2 premiere in a eye popping sculptured Giorgio Armani Privé 40s-inspired ruffled white mini dress with a peplum skirt.

The spectacular gown showcased all of Scarlett's many gifts including her stunning face, neck and tiny waist. The gown highlighted Scarlett's hourglass shape.

Hair Style:

The beautiful actress wisely wore her hair swept up off her face in order to avoid any clashes with the stunning Harry Winston earrings and wide sweeping over-the-shoulder ruffled top.

Scarlett's hair texture matched the theme of her gown by combining soft finger tousled tresses draped back from the crown and the sides and cascading into a soft open coned shaped chignon in the back.

She has gorgeous eyes and lips which help to balance her face shape. By allowing her hair to drape softly throughout the crown and the side perimeter of her face, the of her eyes and lips are enhanced without drawing attention away from her breathtaking gown.

Hair Secrets:

The soft chignon hairstyle worked in harmony with Scarlett's perfectly appointed baby blonde highlights and caramel lowlights.

Although the front of the twist was raked up and off her face, the hairline had subtle height built-in to provide a softer yet elegant shape.

While the style is slightly tousled, it has a well-defined shape and has a finish which works with the elegance of the gown.

Quick Hairstyling Tips:

Scarlett's hair style is ideal for shoulder length or longer tresses medium in thickness with some natural waves, curl or bend.

It's best achieved on freshly cleansed hair properly prepped with styling products to give the hair appropriate workability.

Cleanse hair with products to amp up highlights and lowlights.

Add rinse-out conditioner and final cold water rinse. Rake leave-in conditioning and styling cocktail through strands.

Note: If your hair is prone to frizzing apply a defrisant product or mix with your other styling products. Many celebrities are big fans of Phytodefrisant.

Dry with a long finger diffuser and fingers to create the tousled separation.

Direct dry strands off face and sides pulling into a mid-back tousled open twist. Use a tiny bit of hair wax on fingers to create more pieced textures. Pin back hair twist with same color pins.

Finish with firm holding spray and swipe with light shine serum to capture random fly-a-ways and add shimmer.

Hairstyling Notes & Options

For a more finished or textured look utilize small, medium or large barrel curling irons to fine tune wave formation for uniform tousling.
