Hair Color Of 2012 - Reddish Orange Tangerine
Do you ever wonder where hot new hair colors originate? I used to ponder that very question until a famous New York colorist told me yearly hair color trends spring from the interior design world. At first I didn't believe her. Then I did a little research and discovered she was right on.
Not only does the interior design world influence those stunning hair colors your favorite celebrities showcase on the Red Carpets, the industry also has an impact on fabrics, patterns and overall design styles.
If you want a sneak peak of what to expect with regard to hair color and style trends you can look to the Pantone Color Institute® which picks a color for every new year. In 2011 the official Pantone color was Honeysuckle or PANTONE 18-2120.
Honeysuckle was replaced in 2012 with Tangerine Tango, described by the Pantone Color Institute® as “sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive," Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® describes Tangerine Tango as "an orange with a lot of depth to it."
It's definitely a spirited reddish orange which provides a major energy boost. It is definitely the appropriate color for 2012 as the world seeks to move forward, rebuild and recharge. While you might not think of orange as sophisticated, when fused with red it definitely has that sense of drama and seductiveness.
Eiseman explains Tangerine Tango is “reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset. Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Will red orange bet he new go-to hair color for 2012? Of course not for everyone, but certainly those seeking a hair color in the red family may find themselves seduced by the tangerine hue.
While not everyone will head for their favorite colorist to turn their locks red orange, expect to see the color popping up on the catwalks and Red Carpets.
Fashion designers Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore, Cynthia Steffe by Shaun Kearney, Elie Tahari and Adrienne Vittadini are reportedly incorporating the sizzling tangerine into their 2012 Spring Collections.
The advantage of the tangerine hue is that it can be lightened for Spring and Summer but darkened for autumn into early winter. It is also a departure from traditional black, red or the metal hued shades of the past.
It can work in a variety of ways in the fashion world as the key focus or in accessories such as handbags, shoes, belts, scarves or hats.
Expect it to show up on hair accessories such as headbands, crystallized clips, barrettes and hair pins.Tangerine Tango is also expected to take the cosmetics world by storm in 2012. Although exotic, it's considered friendly and non-threatening.
Tangerine can bring a sultriness when used as an eye shadow, on nails, with cheeks or on lips.
According to the Pantone Color Institute® Tangerine is a complementary opposite which flatters blue or green eyes. When paired with brown eyes, it brings out an amber cast.
If Tangerine is too dramatic for your hair, cosmetics or clothing, you can still enjoy the hue in your home with pillows, bedspreads or other accessories. You may or may not want to paint a wall with the hot color since after all 2013 will usher in a brand new hue.
