Julianna Marguiles Wins Golden Globe On Son's Birthday

Actress Julianna Margulies, 43, won the Golden Globe for CBS's "The Good Wife".  As she made her way through the tangled web of tables towards the stage she made a slight detour right past her ex-"ER" co-star, George Clooney, and touched him on the shoulder.  He kissed her.

In her teary acceptance speech Julianna thanked CBS executives “for believing in the 10 o’clock drama,’’ a knock at her former “ER’’ network for the Leno-at-10 experiment.

In her nod to the other amazing actresses in her category who didn't win (Julianna beat out Glenn Close for "Damages, January Jones "Mad Men". Anna Paquin "True Blood" and Kyra Sedgwick for "The Closer") Julianna said "Glenn Close, I'd bow down, but the dress would rip."

Indeed, she was wearing a stunning figure hugging Narciso Rodriguez garnet and black embroidered crepe dress gown.  The gown would probably have ripped if she bowed down. Julianna's brown hair pulled up in a faux French Twist with a few tendrils cascading down from one side of her face.

While accepting her award, Julianna expressed how thankful she was. "I'm blessed to go to this job everyday," Julianna said.  She also thanked her lovely crew and cast and all the producers.

She also thanked her husband and her baby boy whose birthday it was.  How ironic that Julianna won a Golden Globe award on her son's birthday.
