Actress Michelle Yeoh born August 6, 1963 in Ipoh, Malaysia, is as famous for her stunning action roles as well as her hair stunts.

The Asian beauty, voted by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1997, is known for performing her own action stunts which made her famous in the early 1990s.

Based in Hong Kong, Michelle's action films also require some amazing hair stunts both on and off camera.  The beautiful winner of The Miss Malaysia pageant in 1983, won a commercial with Jackie Chan as a result of her title win.  Jackie influenced Michelle's transition to filming action roles where she did all of her own stunt work.

Historic Hair Stunts

Her historic hair stunts stem back to her early days as a bun head with the Royal Academy of Dance in London.

Her work as a ballerina made it easier for Michelle to learn martial arts and street fighting.  She told Marie Claire Magazine in 1999 that unlike Hollywood, films are shot very different in Hong Kong, where the bulk of her movies are filmed.

Michelle said "in Hollywood, everything is considered risky for stars to do.  We don't have special effects like blue screens and advanced compute animation.  Here (Hong Kong) I'm the special effect."

Not only does the actress have to look flawless when leaping off buildings while the cameras are rolling, she has to achieve amazing hair stunts where her tresses look great as well.

Amazing Hair Stunts On Red Carpets

The gutsy actress who pulls off some amazing hair stunts on Red Carpets all over the world admitted that one of the stunts she ever had to do was in the film Supercop where she had to roll off the top of a speeding van onto the top of a speeding car.

Not only did the co-star of the 1997 James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies, have to do a back flip onto the car, it involved a five foot drop.  If she flubbed the stunt Michelle told Marie Claire "if I missed, I could have landed on my head or have part of my body run over."

Needless to say, Michelle, who won International awards for her role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, was risking death or lifelong injuries as a result of a stunt she performed herself.  Michelle is so exceptional at her stunts she is the only actress Jackie Chan truly trusts to do her own stunts on his movies.

Unfortunately Michelle did sustain very serious  long term injuries to her back in a movie which filmed after Supercop.  She was in the hospital for an extended period as a result of playing a famous Chinese stunt woman.

Beautiful Hair Stunts In The Lady

Michelle made International news in 2011 when she starred in The Lady which is based upon the real life of Aung San Suu Kyi (born June 19, 1945), the Burmese opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

As Aung San Suu Kyi she wasn't required to do the typical action shots although she did undertake some serious hair stunts to portray the beautiful hair of the famed Kyi.

The Burmese democracy icon is known for her love of hair flowers and her stunning hair buns, twists and sophisticated updos.
