Summer Hair Trends Go Up

Elizabeth Banks rocked an easy messy pinned up glam hairstyle at the recent Cannes film festival in France.  Her hair was pulled softly back from her face and pinned in the back.  Her hairstyle worked in perfect harmony with her gorgeous gown.

Although not everyone might love her gown, I definitely loved her hair.

When describing Elizabeth's hairdo the key words are tousled and up.  Although it probably took a little bit more work creating the hairdo than it seemed, the hair styling trend to pin hair up in time for hotter weather has definitely arrived.

Elizabeth's center parted hairstyle could be copied by using a large or medium barrel sized curling iron to add soft waves or curls.

After creating the desired texture pulling hair softly up in back and along the sides.  Pin them to the scalp with bobby pins the same color as your hair.

Finish with a little dab of shine serum and/or shine enhancing spray and you have a cute tousled summer upstyle without a lot of time.

You can play with this cute summer hairstyle by pulling out a few tendrils around the face - yes, tendrils are back for 2010 - or by adjusting the front of the hairstyle to look a little shorter than the back for a more balanced hair profile.

To make sure hairpins stay put after you slide them in, consider adding two at a time positioned in a X shape to keep them firmly anchored.  There's nothing more annoying than having bobby pins pop out of your hairstyle at inopportune moments.

The cool thing about Elizabeth's cute Summer up hairstyle is that there is no right or wrong way to do it.  It can work for just about any hair texture from stick straight to naturally curly.  It's your choice whether to amp up the texture or tone it down before you pull it up and tuck it under.

You can also add volume throughout the crown if you wish and combine it with any type of fringe or part.

If you want to dress it up a bit pop on a beautiful summer hair flower in the appropriate hue to match your outfit.

You can also play with headbands to build in instant volume throughout the front of the hair.  Tiny jeweled clips, hairpins or other accessories can instantly glam up this sassy hairstyle.

Not only will your hair look fresh, you don't have to worry about having any hair hanging on your neck in the heat of the summer.
