Cashmere (Kashmir), is one of the softest, most luxurious fabrics in the world which has been in use since 1684.

Imagine if you could wave a magic hair wand and transform your hair into a luscious flowing river of silky straight DIY cashmere blowout infused straight tresses?

This treatment is especially beneficial for dry, damaged or naturally textured (curly, wavy, kinky) strands.

You can have the Cashmere straightening Blowout professionally performed at Chicago-based George The Salon, which invented it, for $50-$60.00 or more, depending upon add-ons and round-trip travel.

Steps To Create A DIY Cashmere Blowout

Listed below are the steps you should take to create your own DIY Cashmere Blowout at home:

1.  Prep hair for the treatment. Detangle completely starting at the bottom of the tresses and working up to the roots to remove any knots, snags or snarls.

Kerastase-1_250h KÉRASTASE Elixir Ultime

Note:  If hair is chemically damaged or exceptionally dry, you may opt for a pre-treatment conditioning application.

2. Wash tresses in lukewarm water utilizing a super hydrating.  You may also opt for a conditioner only wash (CoWash).

3.  After applying the cleansing or CoWash treatment, rinse well.

4. Apply a rinse out conditioner to the most damaged sections of your hair. Use your fingers and/or hair-friendly wide tooth comb to gently detangle small sections of hair from the ends to the roots.

5.  Rinse well in lukewarm water to remove all product. Do not finish with a cool water rinse since you wish to leave the cuticle open.

6.  Towel blot - do not rub - wet hair. Use a pick or smooth wide tooth comb to gently detangle hair.

7. At George The Salon, the service is started when a special texture spray containing the salon's signature heat activated cashmere protein is applied to damp, newly washed hair.

To achieve similar DIY results, layer a cocktail of {{asin=B004530AB2,text=Kérastase’s Elixir Ultime Oleó Complexe}}, which is quickly absorbed by damp hair, along with Davines' Defining Texturizer.

First apply the Kérastase which makes hair super soft, velvety and infused with a superwatt shine.  Then apply {{asin=B000YAXOT0,text=The Davines}} texurizer which acts like a beach spray to create definition, shape and hold. It also provides heat protection.

These two products when combined, work exceptionally well together and create a similar result to The Salon's special texture spray,  smoothing away frizz.

8. If you have fine or thin strands which tend to go limp, build more volume throughout the roots by applying a root lifting product before blow drying.  Use a great lifting product such as {{asin=B00D1XLZ3O,text=Kérastase’s Lift Veritage}}. This will prevent hair from going limp later.

The great thing about this straightening blowout? It can be completely customized according to the needs of your hair.

9.  Use a wide tooth comb.Separate product infused damp hair into 1 to 2-inch sections.

10. Use a blow dryer with a concentrator and a paddle or round style 100% boar bristle brush on the whole head until it is 100% dry. To get max volume pull hair at the roots with your fingers in random sections to build lush volume.

11. Once hair is 100% dry, separate it into individual 1-2" sections.  Quickly pull each section through a flat iron to add perfectly elegant and soft-as-cashmere straight strands.

How To Maintain The DIY Cashmere Blowout

Maintain your DIY Cashmere Blowout by dusting dry shampoo at the roots of your hair to kick up the staying power of your style.

Use a soft scunchie or terry cloth headband on your tresses which won't create any indentations or marks.  Make sure to keep hair away from all water used to wash your hair to avoid frizz developing along the hairline.

Wrap hair in a thick towel twisted into a turban before showering.  Keep hair completely off your face before applying moisturizers or similar serums.

At night, as you sleep, your goal should be to keep hair straight without totally flattening it.

Separate hair into four to six equally sized sections.  Use large bobby pins to create loosely, sculpted pin curls as you sleep.  In the morning unpin hair, bend over at the waist and lightly tousle hair.

If you want stick straight strands, you might wish to use a medium sized flat iron to smooth out any indentations or marks.
