Steve Carell Has Hard Choices To Make With Film Career

Steve Carell was recently interviewed on the Red Carpet at the 2010 SAG Awards.  By his side was his lovely wife, the beautiful blonde Nancy who has actually appeared on "The Office" in the past.

NBC's "The Office" was up for a SAG Award as an ensemble, but of course a lot of the credit needs to go to Steve who guides the crazies in "The Office" as the wacky boss you love to hate and hate to love.  Steve himself was also nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Comedy Series.

Peter from People Magazine asked "now your character, Michael Scott, has absolutely no filter when it comes to what is appropriate and what isn't.  Did you base him on any of your old bosses?"

Steve "It was sort of a conglomeration of people I've met through the years.  So no, I can't point to one specific person.  But people tell me all the time it's like people they know.  Specific people they know."

Peter "We've all worked with a Michael Scott."

Steve "Well Ricky Gervais said once 'if you don't know a Michael Scott (and his character David Pratt), then you are Michael Scott."

And speaking of Ricky Gervais, Steve was the opening target of the Master of Ceremonies at the 2010 Golden Globes.  Ricky teased Steve about all the movies he makes, in addition to his success with "The Office".  There was truth to the teasing.  Steve does have a lot of movies in progress and it was recently announced he has two upcoming projects that may be competing for his time during the hiatus this summer of "The Office."

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter', Steve's two promising projects include a dramedy from Dan Fogelman (Fred Claus) about a father trying to maintain a relationship with his children while his marriage is in turmoil. The other is a comedy titled Mail-Order Groom, in which Carell would play a poor immigrant acquired by a desperately single Tina Fey.

Fans of Steve are hoping that he passes on the Tina Fey project and moves onto the project with Dan Fogelman.  Why?  Tina and Steve already have a film in the can due out in April of 2010.

I personally love Tina on "30 Rock" but honestly, I don't get the chemistry.  I would definitely have to agree with other critics who say two Tina Fey films in a row is probably not a great idea.

The good news is that "The Office" is still going strong with Jim and Pam having a baby.  That whole storyline opens lots of new possibilities for the endless hilarious cast.

Whether Steve picks the Tina Fey movie or not, I'm hoping he does a sequel to "40 Year Old Virgin".  That is my all time favorite film of Steve's and it's time to catch up with the happily married man.
