Bachelorette Jillian Dumps Wes But Who Cares?

Yes, I've been watching the Bachelorette faithfully as I have done every other season.  No, I really don't care what happens and I don't really like any of the remaining bachelors.

(Image of The Bachelorette - Jillian Harris, the intelligent, independent, passionate woman will have her own opportunity to find true love, starring in the fifth edition of "The Bachelorette," ABC Television Network - All Rights Reserved).

Jillian is cute and she looked amazing in the little black dress she wore for last nights (Episode 8 - July 6, 2009) rose ceremony where she sent Wes, the guy-the-fans-love-to-hate. home.

Of course after Jillian dumped Wes because she had finally decided he had a girlfriend, Wes is shown in the limo being bleeped and implying he really did have a girlfriend.

Again....who really cares?  Do people really believe Wes had a girlfriend?  So what if he did?  Rumors have been swirling that Ed, the guy who left the show because of his job, actually does have a girlfriend.

Is that true or not?  Hard to say, but its so important to remember the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows are not real.  They're scripted.

Hence what happens on the show is very far from reality.  Whether Wes, Ed or anyone else had a girlfriend doesn't matter one iota unless it can be scripted into the show and help to create "the most dramatic rose ceremony ever."

Even my guy (a musician/engineer) who watched the last few minutes of last night's show with me when Wes was dumped opinioned that none of the remaining three guys (Kiptyn, Reid, Ed) seem "into Jillian" at all.  Hmmmm.  Interesting perspective from an involved male spectator.  Right?

Especially since he never normally watches the show but happened to catch it with me.

I've been watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette show since day one and have mentioned many times in the past my true appreciation for Trista, Ryan and some of the various players from different shows.  I thought Jeremy Anderson from DeAnna's Bachelorette reign was sincere.  Well as sincere as he could be on a scripted reality TV show.  He just seemed like a really great guy, and not because he's from Dallas.

Of course I was also a big fan of Melissa because someone I know, who knew someone who was acquainted with Melissa, said she is a genuinely sweet girl.  Yeah I know, she also lives in Dallas.  Maybe I have a Dallas prejudice going with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette?  At least my prejudice is real and not scripted.

Regardless, I don't think I will ever recover from the Jason Mesnick season of The Bachelor.

Of course I knew the entire show was scripted and I knew there was tons of editing and character manipulation but before the Jason/Melissa/Molly events, I honestly could watch the show and just be entertained.

After the famous dumping Melissa scene, I just couldn't get into it anymore.  Especially since I had reliable sources who said Melissa is a very sweet and good person.

Of course I know Soapnet's new The Southern Belles:  Louisville is completel;y scripted and so are the majority of all reality TV shows like MTV's The Hills and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.  However, I can still make my brain temporarily stop thinking about the scripting and just enjoy the craziness.  Not so with The Bachelorette.  Which explains why I haven't been blogging about it much at all during Jillian's season.

Now that Jillian is down to three bachelors - Kiptyn, Ed and Reid - who am I pulling for?  Sadly, none of them.  There have been leaks that Ed really does have a real life girlfriend back home, that Reid went on the show to help promote his real estate career and who knows why Kiptyn is on the show?  Certainly not to get engaged any time soon, as he pointed out in last night's show.

Or did he?  Was what he said edited to add drama?  Is Wes really a big jerk like he was shown to be?  Probably not.  Remember, the show is scripted and there is always a villian bachelor and bachelorette.  Someone to get the viewers to tune back in and watch the show.  Right?  Yes, trust me on this.

Tweets From Trista Rehn & RealitySteve.com Events

The best thing to come out of this season of The Bachelorette for me?  A tweet from former Bachelorette Trista Rehn Sutter about her blog.  The second best thing to come out of Jillian's Bachelorette season?  More good juice from Steve at RealitySteve.com.

And yes, he lives in Dallas.  What can I say?  Steve tells it like it is even though it means he gets ripped by Jason Mesnick and Chris Harrison.

Seriously Chris, you seem like such a great guy.  What's up with the RealitySteve (RS) comments?  If anything, RS gets people to go check out your blog and watch the show.

Right?  Feel free to tweet me if you like about RS but I do understand Chris has a job to do and I love how dapper he always looks.

Speeding Through The Tivo For Last 20 Minutes

At this point in time I Tivo The Bachelorette every week, speed through the entire episode and then watch the last 20 minutes.  If I see something worthwhile as I speed past, I stop and watch that segment.

Otherwise it's just too tedious at this point and it pains me to even write about it.  I would much rather write about The Belles or The Housewives or even The Hills, as ridiculous as some of these shows are.  At least they entertain me and make me laugh.

Give Wes A Break

With The Bachelorette, it just makes me shake my head and feel really bad for people like Wes who are edited to hell and back.

I hope people give Wes a break and understand that he is probably not really a jerk like he was portrayed on the show.

(The Bachelorette - "Episode 507" - Jillian finished her whirlwind hometown visits and returned to Los Angeles to reflect on the next rose ceremony "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, JUNE 29 , on the ABC Television Network. WES, EDWARD, JILLIAN HARRIS, REID, KIPTYN - All Rights Reserved).

As far as who Jillian picks as her final Bachelor, I don't really care.  Do you?
