Ali Fedotowsky Is Third Blonde Bachelorette

Most would agree that ABC's "The Bachelorette" has more success under it's belt than "The Bachelor".  Until recently there were no Bachelor weddings.

Of course Jason Mesnick, the most hated bachelor in the history of the show for dumping Melissa Rycroft on TV, recently married his second choice, Molly.  Their wedding will be the second reality TV nuptials from the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise.

The Bachelorette already has one successful love story, Trista Rehn with Jillian Harris still engaged to her pick, Ed Swiderski.  A wedding is rumored to be in the works for Jillian and Ed.

The third Bachelorette, Jennifer Schefft, who was America's sweetheart when she got engaged to Bachelor Andrew Firestone, returned to ABC after she and Andrew broke up.  Her reign as second Bachelorette didn't go as smoothly as Trista's.  In the end, Jen refused the proposal of her final pick.

Although there was a lot of hope about DeAnna Pappas and her pick, Jesse Csinsak, it was not meant to be.

Several suitors rejected by various Bachelorettes went on to become The Bachelors.  Bob Guiney was rejected by Bachelorette Trista Rehn, Bachelor Jason Mesnick was rejected by DeAnna Pappas and Bachelor Jake Pavelka was rejected by Jillian Harris.

Does hair color have anything to do with the ultimate success or failure of the various bachelorettes?  Trista Rehn was a blonde bachelorette although now she is a brunette.

Jennifer Scheff was a blonde and won two proposals, one from Andrew Firestone and one during her time as The Bachelorette.  However, neither worked out for her.

Brunette DeAnna Pappas was rejected by Bachelor Brad Womack, accepted Jesse's proposal but wound up without either Bachelor in the end.

Brunette Jillian Harris appears very happy with Ed even after being rejected by Jason Mesnick who rejected a brunette Melissa for a blonde Molly.

Now blonde Ali Fedotowsky is the next Bachelorette.  She decided to leave Bachelor Jake whose final two Bachelorettes were both blondes.

If anything is obvious, it's the glaring absence of redheaded Bachelorettes.   We has also not had any Bachelors who were balding or Bachelorettes with alternative hair such as dreads, unusual fashion hues such as pink, purple or orange and no Bachelorettes with obvious natural curls.

Also obvious it he absence of ethnic Bachelors or Bachelorettes.  Although the lack of ethnic Bachelors and Bachelorettes has been discussed as being controversial, that's another story for another day.

Before Jason Mesnick there was no such thing as a single parent.  Once Jason broke through with his young son, future Bachelors had Bachelorette picks who were divorced and single moms.  So far no single mom has triumphed but it's only a matter of time.

Listed below is a summary of the six Bachelorettes since Trista to the current Ali.

Season 1 (2003) - Trista Rehn is currently brunette, but was blonde during her time on the first episode of "The Bachelor" and as the very first "Bachelorette"  Although rejected by Alex Michel, Trista met her husband, Ryan Sutter, on the show.  They fell in love, married in the first ABC Bachelor related reality wedding and have two gorgeous children.  Their wedding was one of the most-watched programs in reality TV history.

Season 2 (2004) - Meredith Phillips, a brunette, was let go of by bachelor Bob Guiney (who was let go by Bachelorette Trista Rehn) in season 4 of The Bachelor.  She chose Ian Mckee. Their relationship ended in February 2005.

Season 3 (2005) - Jennifer Schefft, a blonde, was engaged to Bachelor Andrew Firestone at the end of Season Three of "The Bachelor".  Jen agreed to be the third Bachelorette after she and Andrew ended their relationship.  Although she select Jerry Ferris, an art gallery dealer, she did not accept his proposal because she said the chemistry was not there.

Three years lapsed from the time Jennifer Schefft rejected her final pick and the next Bachelorette Show.  Many fans wondered if Jen's disappointing finale was behind the decision not to have a Bachelorette show in 2006 or 2007.

Season 4 (2008) - DeAnna Pappas, a brunette, who first appeared in season eleven of The Bachelor, was rejected by bachelor Brad Womack.  She went on to select and get engaged to Pro Snowboarder Jesse Csincsak rejecting Jason Mesnick.

Jason Mesnick was the first rejected Bachelor from The Bachelorette series to go on to become The Bachelor in Season 13.  It was the most controversial Bachelor season with Jason Mesnick changing his mind after selecting Melissa Rycroft.  He asked his second choice, Molly, to reconsider.  Jason and Molly were the first Bachelor couple in the 14 year history of the show to marry in a reality TV wedding.

Season 5 (2009) Canadian Jillian Harris, a brunette, who was rejected by bachelor Jason Mesnick in season 13 of The Bachelor, was the fifth bachelorette. The season premiered on May 18, 2009. On the season finale, Jillian received a proposal from Ed Swiderski.  Controversial Bachelorette contestant Jake Pavelka was chosen to be the next "Bachelor".  He was controversial because he made a surprise visit after being rejected by Jillian to warn her about Bachelor Wes and his secret girlfriend.

Season 6 (2010) - Ali Fedotowsky, a blonde who is afraid of flying, walked away from bachelor Jake Pavelka to save her job.  She has just been announced as the sixth bachelorette.  The season will premiere in May 2010.
