The funnyman from "30 Rock" won the first SAG Actor award of the evening. The presenters were the very dashing Justin Timberlake and the drop dead gorgeous Kate Hudson. Both of the presenters won marks from the fashion police for their smashing attire and they looked very cute together. Two blonde superstars together to present the first award of the SAG evening.
Hmmmm. Maybe there's a future pairing in there somewhere.
Meanwhile, the category Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series included some heavyweights such as Steve Carell for "The Office", Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm", Charlie Sheen in "Two and a Half Men" and Alec Baldwin for "30 Rock" with the win going to Alec Baldwin.
When Alec's name was called by Kate Hudson, he didn't seem all that surprised. Neither did the rest of the nominees whose faces were captured on film as it was announced Alec had just won for the fifth time. Maybe because he is the consistent winner in this category. Maybe because they didn't expect to win but like to be honored. Will we ever know?
After his name was announced Alec got up and hugged his brother, who was his escort and then gave a hug to Julianna Marguiles. Wearing a handsome dark suit Alec climbed up to the podium and accepted his SAG award.
He said "I'm really happy to get an award from Justin Timberlake. And I really, really, really happy to get an award from Kate Hudson. I just want to say thank you, this is completely unexpected. Congratulations to all the other nominees and thank you to everybody involved with the show. And Tina and all of our writers back home, our crew and out cast, many of them here with us. We have a great experience there, a great group of people."
Winning points for his support of the union he finished his speech about SAG.
He said "But I want to say especially tonight, that I'm proud to be a member of this union. I'm proud to be a member of the Screen Actors Guild. The work that's done by the union is important work. To benefit people, many who are not in this room tonight and don't get to star in film and TV projects and so forth. And they rely on the union to work hard for them for the residuals and their benefits and so forth and thank you. We have another negotiation coming up very soon, it'll be right around the corner as we all remember and I just want to say that I am proud, proud, proud to be a member of the Screen Actor's Guild. Thank you very much."
