Melissa McCarthy Owns 100 Wigs & Has Beautiful Brunette Waves & Curls

Beautiful brunette Melissa McCarthy (born August 26, 1970) is an American actress known for her endearing portrayal of Sookie St. James for seven years on the television series Gilmore Girls.

I for one loved Sookie and wished I had a best friend just like her.

Melissa is often recognized for her layers of soft luscious waves and curls, her big dimples, sparkling eyes and smile that lights up any room.

The vivacious actress most recently played the role of Dena, Samantha's childhood friend of Sam on the ABC sitcom Samantha Who? for two years from 2007 to 2009 until the series was sadly cancelled.

Playing a best bud wasn't a new role for Melissa.  Afterall, the much loved Sookie was Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) best friend on Gilmore Girls.

Melissa told the media she was a initially a little concerned when she landed the role of Dena on Samantha Who since she thought the role was very similar to Sookie from Gilmore Girls.  Ultimately Melissa played Dena differently than the sweet and looney Sookie.

Melissa's take on Dena was darker than Sookie.  Dena was known to tell a fib or too and she had an edge not found in the always-sweet Sookie.

Moving On From Role As The Best Bud

Now that Samantha Who? has been cancelled Melissa will move onto other roles.  She told TVGuide.com in October of 2008 that she owns "like, 100 wigs".   Why?

Melissa explained "For Groundlings, the improv theater. I wear them on-stage, and they're all mostly hideous. Bad short perm wigs, some mullets in there. Mostly it's the 55- to 60-year-old Midwestern woman hairdo. I have a strange amount of those!"

No doubt Melissa McCarthy will be having fun creating all sorts of new characters in her work in improv.  She also will be appearing in some film roles.

Daily Hair Tip
For a low maintenance style, try to work with your natural hair type rather than against it. For example, if your hair is naturally wavy, select a hairstyle that works easily with the waves.
