Mine's Mango Colada Mousse

Introduction

As I have reported in the past, I'm not usually a big mousse fan (except for lemon, with whipped cream), but Mine's Mango Colada Gel Mousse is very different than any other mousse I've ever tried.

You know how some men use that green gel-that-turns-to-foam to shave with? Well, this does the same kind of thing (and you could probably shave with it, too); just a tiny blob of gel turns into a handful of fabulous foam. (Photo of Mine Mango Colada Gel Mousse copyright HairBoutique.com 2002).

Usage

Use a dime-sized blob of gel to produce a nice mound of mousse. Work into a foam with your fingers. Apply to damp hair where lift, volume and control are desired. Style with comb or fingers. For optimum foaming and performance, keep me at room temperature.

Packaging

The packaging for Mine hair products is pretty neat. Each one comes in a tall white plastic bottle with a simple pop-top for easy opening, with Mine’s classic edgy-looking barefoot gal on the front, sporting a big flower in her teeth. Since this is the Mango Colada mousse product, the color is gold. If you buy this or any other Mine product through HairBoutique.com you get absolutely free shipping, which is a huge plus.

Fragrance

This product smells absolutely wonderful, and you can see why when you take a look at the ingredients. You can especially smell the Mango, and Awapuhi, and it scents your hair with a sweet yet elusive fragrance. It almost smells good enough to drink - but trust me and don't.

5 Reasons Why Your Hair Can't Live Without It:

As always the Mine Mango Colada Gel Mousse bottle contained some pretty snappy repartee. How could I possibly resist this fascinating product?

  1. Mango Colada Gel Mousse is an alcohol-free, non-aerosol, conditioning gel mousse.

  2. It does not contain lanolin oil to weigh hair down.

  3. It's pH balanced formula can be used daily.

  4. It will provide your hair with added volume, body and natural shine.

  5. It contains natural ingredients.

Even better, a lot goes a very long way.

How I Tested This Product

As I said, I'm not usually crazy about mousses, but this one is pretty neat. After washing my hair, I towel-dried it, then applied the mousse. All I did was style my hair with my fingers, and let it air dry. (Did I mention that this product is alcohol-free? That's good news for hair because it's less drying.) My usual routine in the morning is to shower, do my hair, have breakfast, then do my makeup and get dressed. This all gives my hair time to dry. By the time I was dressed, made up, and accessorized, I was pleasantly surprised to see how soft and pizzazz-y my hair looked. Who knew a mousse could work this well? Allow me a second on my soapbox-there are so many hair products out on the marketplace today that make thin hair look thick, but few that really do the job on thick hair. Some products supposedly for thick hair merely weigh the hair down, giving you the hated Helmet Head. Mine's Mango Colada Gel Mousse gave my hair the lift it needed, and a lot of shine as well.

Daily Hair Tip
When towel drying wet hair never rub hair roughly or twist up into a towel. This will potentially damage delicate hair cuticles. Instead carefully blot hair with superabsortant towel and squeeze hair gently to remove moisture.
