Kim Raver Hairstyles

Introduction

Kim Raver MovieLine Hollywood Life Style Awards

Actress Kim Raver is well-known by fans for her previous recurring roles on NBC's Third Watch and 24, Fox TV's hit series. She was Kim Zambrano on Third Watch, Audrey Raines on 24 and Nico Reilly on Lipstick Jungle.

Since leaving 24, Kim's career has skyrocketed, culminating in a key co-starring role as Nico on NBC's Lipstick Jungle, (which is currently in limbo and may be in danger of cancellation).

Besides her sizzling career, Kim has been showcasing a series of stunning off-screen hairstyles ranging from long lush curls cascading from a deep side-swept part to a recent across-the-forehead fringe.

As the super ambitious Nico, Kim had the plum part of the three women. Not only did she snag the sexiest scenes, including one with a bowl of tangerine, she got to wear fabulous fashions, eye popping designer shoes and have her hair coiffed in an array of sensual yet executive hairstyles.

When speaking of all those opulent fashions and stunning shoes, Kim told USA "on the Lipstick show (the extravagance is) extraordinary and amazing but I think we're all realizing that we need to cut back a little bit to help our economy and our country."

Like all fashionistas, Kim has personally been stretching her wardrobe dollars due to the economic times. She told USA" she has started mixing in designer pieces with staples from affordable stores like the Gap to deal with the current economic squeeze". "I think it's fine that we all pull back".

Laurent D Is Her Mane Man

Kim Raver "24" 100th Episode Party

Kim Raver has worked with celebrity hairdresser Laurent D for a long time. Laurent adores Kim and enjoys working with her hair.

Just about everything you can imagine has been done to Kim's tresses during her career from straightening them and putting them into sleek updos, to using a curling iron to add tight curl definition along the perimeter of her face.

Kim doesn't have naturally curly hair but she looks great in hairstyles adorned with lots of deconstructed curls.

When Kim wears her tresses full of soft and tousled curls she looks gorgeous. To achieve the bounce and shimmer, her hair is strategically layered.

Sometimes Kim opts for angled side parts and softly textured bangs. An angled forehead fringe helps balance her face. Kim has a mixture of face shapes. Her face is a combination of oval, oblong with a chin that has a strong heart point.

Her hair is medium to fine in texture but she has a lot of hair. She also has a natural bend to her hair which would account for the appearance of random waves.

Although Kim's long lush curls look spectacular, they do take commitment to create. The maintenance required to keep the curls looking spectacular involves time with a blow dryer and round brush, hot rollers and curling iron.

Blondes Have More Fun

Kim appears to prefer blonde hues, her shades morph between multi-layered darker tones to shimmering pale baby blonde hues.

Her shade of blonde has changed with each of major TV characters but the selected hues are always very flattering for Kim's skin and eye tones.

Hair was a significant prop for Kim when she starred in a Lifetime Movie, The Haunting Of Sarah, as identical twins. To easily differentiate the twins, Kim's hair was coiffed up in a bun for one and down for the other.

Hair was a key component of Kim's look since it helped the viewers track which twin was which.

Such is the case with her various character roles on Third Watch, 24 and Lipstick Jungle. Depending on the role she was playing Kim would go darker or light.

Starting Out With Sesame Street

This brilliant actress got her start with Sesame Street during the ages of six to nine. She had a regular role on the popular kid's show. After leaving Sesame Street she joined Off Off Broadway's first all-children's theater. A fine arts graduate of Boston University, Kim never stops studying and working on her craft. It has been reported that Kim continues to study with New York theater teacher and mentor, Wynn Handman.

The multi-talented actress is fluent in French and German, a language she learned as a child from her German-born mother.

Kim is a good sport about using her fame to help those in need and is always willing to donate her time for charity.

In 2000 The New York Times reported the presence of Kim at trattoria La Nonna on West 13th Street near Seventh Avenue as part of the Third Watch cast on a bartending gig at a fundraiser with children with brain tumors.

Kim told the Times, "we each have our specialties" claiming vodka and tonic although gin and tonic for herself. "I know my way around garnishes. I leave the martinis and margaritas to the boys."

The lovely Kim Raver clearly understands how to flatter her long, thin, heart shaped face.

Kim combines carefully created volume throughout the crown and interior.

She also wears her hair full around her face and along the sides, often adding perimeter waves and curls for a stunning overall hairstyle.

Whether you have natural curls or not, follow these steps to recreate Kim's award winning curly hairstyle:

STEP 1

Start by washing your hair the night before a big event with Ken Paves Healthy Hair Daily Shampoo or one of the great Phyto shampoo products such as Phytocitrus, Phytojoba or similar.

Note: If your hair is damaged or excessively dry, consider diluting the shampoo with warm water and mixing to a foam. Drizzle the foam over wet strands.

For more details on shampoo options check out Shampoo Basics a completely updated and overhauled article about every imaginable type of shampoo on the market for all types, textures and conditions of hair.

STEP 2

Condition strands with either Ken Paves Healthy Hair Daily Conditioner or Phytosesame Conditioning Treatment.

For a deep conditioning treatment for dry or damaged hair consider using Phytocitrus Mask Vital Radiance Mask , Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask or similar.

To amp up your blonde hair color opt for the Ken Paves Healthy Hair Boost Up Color Drops in Beige. For a special treat consider the fabulous Ken Paves Healthy Hair Beige Showcase Kit.

STEP 3

Rinse well to remove all shampoo and conditioning residue and finish with a cool/cold water rinse.

STEP 4

Towel blot so that all excess water is removed. Detangle from the ends up to the roots. Separate hair into 2-3 inch sections. Apply your favorite leave-in conditioner.

If your hair is naturally curly, apply Phytodefrisant Relaxing Baum to each individual section of hair to smooth tresses and block any frizz. Comb the balm completely through the strands from roots to ends.

If your hair is straight or wavy, apply PhytoPro Intense Volume Mousse to pump up the fullness factor.

Set hair in self adhesive rollers, sponge or rag rollers to add curls.

Sit under a hood or bonnet style dryer until hair is 100% dry. Make sure hair is completely cool.

STEP 5

Remove rollers but leave hair unbrushed or combed until the next step.

STEP 6

If hair is naturally wavy or curly, apply a dime sized amount of Ken Paves Healthy Hair Shine Serum to the palms of your hands mixing well. Take the palms of the hands and distribute it through the newly liberated strands (from the curlers), avoiding the root area.

This step is essential for protecting fragile curls like Kim's. The Ken Paves Healthy Hair Shine Serum locks in moisture and adds a beautiful glossy finish.

STEP 7

Separate strands into 2-2 1/2" sections. Starting at the back of the head, near the nape of the neck, gently twist each strand in a clockwise direction while curling the twisted strand from the middle of the strand to the ends around a medium sized curling iron.

STEP 8

Continue to twist and curl strands from one side of the head to the other. To guarantee that the curls are tight and bouncy, after you release each new curl from the curling iron, pin against the scalp to cool.

STEP 9

Once you have finished curling the middle to end section of every strand, start again at the nape of the neck and curl all of the same sections from the roots to the middle of the strand. This will help to form a uniform ringlet from roots to ends.

STEP 10

Allow tresses to completely cool. Use fingers to arrange the newly formed curls. If desired, tousle lightly.

STEP 11

If desired attach a hair accessory to the finished hairstyle. A skinny headband in either a contrasting or complimentary color would look great with the newly created curls. Or you may wish to pin a crystal encrusted bobby pin along the hairline for just a smidgen of sparkle.
