Introduction - The Fairytale

I am running through an enchanted forest… my smooth, shiny, golden brown curls cascade gracefully down my back. Of in the distance I see a handsome prince and as I run towards him his smile radiates a warm glow-- I am the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Sleepily, I drudge towards the bathroom and face the mirror. It speaks the truth… I am no Rapunzel. Don't get me wrong, my curls have their shining moments; however, without the right products, there just aren't many of them. Alas, with the cost of my favorite products skyrocketing, I have been looking for alternatives that will give me the smooth, shiny ringlets straight out of my favorite fairytales.

Mine Smooth Sailing is basically 8 ounces of a pink grapefruit colored liquid gel 8 oz versus 5.7 oz of competitive brands).

Personally, after years of experimenting with just about every salon brand of gel and mousse available, I have learned that my curly hair fares better with a liquid gel.

Liquid gels have the advantage of spreadability and when you are trying to make sure that every curl is covered with product (this eliminates frizz), it's to your advantage to work with a product that actually moves. I like this liquid gel over others that I have tried simply because it isn't too thin or too thick. Really, it's perfect!

The smell of Smooth Sailing is simply delicious! For those of you have used Edwin Paul's Smoothing Lotion or Ouidad's Climate Control gel, the smell is very similar. In my opinion, it has a very fresh, sweet smell…like an apple orchard on a brisk Fall day.

Over the years I have found that product application is just as important as the product itself. The directions on the Smooth Sailing bottle indicate that one should, "Massage the glaze into palm of hands and spread evenly through hair from roots to ends. Activate with heat or dry naturally."

I apply my products in a similar manner, but first I section my damp hair into 3 sections. I then apply the product to each section individually and I make sure to coat each and every hair with product. Finally, I will either gently give my hair a few scrunches with my palm and let my curls air dry or I will use a large bell diffuser and dry my hair on low-speed for about 5 minutes.

Amazing! Honestly, my results were much better than I had expected. I was a bit worried that the Smooth Sailing would "pull out" my curl as it is touted as a straightening glaze. However, I found the opposite to be true. While the product didn’t necessarily enhance my curls, it did leave them frizz free and as smooth as my hair could possibly ever be. My curls were not left feeling stiff, hard, or gummy… just softly defined, shiny, and smelling GREAT!

I feel that I can personally give Mine Smooth Sailing my seal of approval! This is a wonderful, workable styling gel for those of us who are looking for smooth, shiny hair… curly or straight!

Following an application of Mine Smooth Sailing, I am transformed into the Rapunzel from my dreams… with shiny, soft ringlets. Now, if I could just get my hair to grow down my back… alas, that's another story!
