Introduction
Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel's life reads like a Hollywood film. Once a member of the American Ballet Theater in New York City, his tenure was cut short due to an irreversible injury. Although Adir's dance career was short-lived, it helped him hone his artistic eye, a gift that eventually led to a new passion—hairstyling. Adir Abergel was profiled in WWD Beauty Biz and reported his style is "West Coast Moroccan Jew with chutzpah." His insider tip? Always show confidence. In an interview with We Love Beauty the famous hairdresser said "I was sixteen and just moved back from NYC and was introduced to Arthur Johns who was one the best hairdressers in the 70's and 80's, and he offered me a job assisting him." Adir Abergel's Speed DialHe also told We Love Beauty the following three people were on his speed dial: 1. My friend and agent, Samer at MagnetLA 2. Rosha Yaghamai 3. Hillary Roth, my friend and assistant By the age of 20, this former ballet prodigy was already working on cover shoots and editorials for magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. By age 22, Adir had opened a Venice-based studio, “Hair by Adir” to meet the demand of his growing clientele. Since then, Adir has worked around the globe on everything from music videos to some of the biggest fashion shows around including Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Carolina Herrera to taming the tresses of celebrity clientele, including starlets such as Madonna, Rachel McAdams and Christina Ricci. Sienna Miller - InStyle Magazines
InStyle Magazine included Sienna Miller in a short profile with her celeb hairstylist, none other than Adir Abergel. Sienna told InStyle Magazine "I don't even own a hairbrush!" She insisted "I'm really not too attached to my hair." Sienna who cut off more than 10 inches for her role as Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl has been known to cook dinner in her London home for hairdresser Adir. Sienna told InStyle "Adir gets me," says Miller. "He knows I never like to look too done or polished." Her biggest challenge? "I've got quite a lot of hair, but I like it flat, so Adir squashes it down for me." To create Miller's ideal look, Abergel flat irons her roots and combats bulkiness with Frédéric Fekkai Coiff Finishing cream. "Sienna feels most like herself when her hair is soft and airy versus set and stylized," he says. Still, it takes effort to appear this artfully undone. It may seem like she rolls out of bed looking glamorous, but Miller says it is not that easy: "I'm very much involved in how I want to look." Jennifer Garner - Cover Of Marie Claire Magazine
Adir was part of the team that flew to Kauai to shot Jennifer for the cover of Marie Claire Magazine. Of course Jennifer looked spectacular with Adir's amazing styling talents. Anne Hathaway 2007 OscarsFor the 2007 Oscars, Adir was behind Anne Hathaway's vintage inspired side-swept up-do influenced by a classic Audrey Hepburn look. Adir's creation involved volume, texture and lots of free flowing pieces with screamed Old Hollywood glamour. Mary Louise Parker For 2007 Emmy AwardsMary-Louise Parker had Adir's attention for the 2007 Emmy Awards who created a gorgeous hairstyle inspired by Mary-Louise's sleek, deep red dress. Adir told the press "we thought it would be really great to go for a Veronica Lake-ish style, but modernizing it a bit." Adir applied a texturizing spray gel to the roots and added a glaze to the ends for shine. After blow drying her hair, he set it in two-inch Velcro style rollers. He loosely wrapped her hair around a Curling Iron to create a soft wave. He blow dried her bangs to the side and left them loose and natural.
He then took half of the hair and pulled it up and secured it with a clip. He intertwined with a loose braid. Adir finished with a shine mist and used a Mason Pearson brush to create a sleek luminescent curl. He sprayed a little bit of hairspray on the brush before combing out the curls for a great Veronica Lake wave.
