HairTopia Vitamins

There's been a lot of press about how the B vitamin folic acid can reduce birth defects. So you might think it's only vital if you wish to get pregnant. Not so.

Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham suggests that folic acid may protect against cervical cancer. This is definitely true for women that have been diagnosed with the human papillomavirus (which may lead to cervical cancer) those with low levels of folic acid were five times more likely to have abnormalities than were those with high levels. Taking more folic acid may also reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

How much to take? Right now, the RDA for folic acid (also called folate) is 180 micrograms for women. But the U.S. Public Health Service recommends that women of childbearing age get at least 400 micrograms a day, even if pregnancy isn't an immediate prospect. Foods high in folic acid include leafy green vegetables, cranberries and beans (e.g., pinto, black). New this year: enriched breads, pastas and rice now have folic acid.

HairTopia Vitamins contain 800mcg of Folic Acid. HairTopia Herbal Plus contains 200 mcg Folic Acid.

Summary
