Allison Iraheta didn't win American Idol but she won for her amazing super hot hairstyle which combined stunning light Merlot red hues with lots of saucy volume and beautiful edges.

The Top Four Finalist stunned audiences with her vibrant hues and she became almost as well-known for her hair color and hairstyle as she did for her voice.

She also guest starred in Two and a Half Men for two episodes and then appeared in Courting Alex in 2005 which was a CBS midseason replacement.

Sadly, Alex failed to be picked up and was cancelled. In 2007 Jenna appeared on Brothers in Sisters and in the Fall of 2008 she guest starred as the owner of a cheerleader camp who tangles with Earl and his brother on My Name Is Earl.

In the new Fall 2009 Season Jenna will return with a new comedy show she is the star of with involved a cougar who is going through a lot of changes in her life.

I was thrilled when Jenna Elfman appeared in Episode 401 - "We've Got Spirit" in 2008 on Earl. In the episode Earl wants to cross his brother Randy off his list for past wrongs.

Randy wants to be a cheerleader so Earl takes him to a cheerleading camp which is run by Kimmi Himmler played by Jenna Elfman. It seems the reason Kimmi is hard to deal with is because she has a deeply scarred face and one milky eye as the result of a badger accident she suffered in high school while cheering.

When Kimmi Himmler wants the two brothers out of her cheerleading camp, Earl goes to drastic measures to make sure that Randy's cheerleading dreams will come true.

For her appearance as the badgered cheerleader, Jenna wore her hair long and it was appropriately staged for the Early setting.

Jenna always looks great as a blonde but for the badger show her hair, which was worn mid-back length, was designed specifically to look like it had been colored at home from a box.

The top of Kimmi's hair was a very light yellow blonde but the bottom half was much more platinum. This is very realistic due to the fact that when the hair is either overlapped or the color isn't taking as well, the blonde may turn baby duck yellow.

Jenna as Kimmi also had "big" hairline flips and curves probably the result of teasing and lots of hairspray.

Ultimately Jenna's hair was done perfectly for the character she was playing - a small town cheerleader from 10-15 years ago before state-of-the-art hair extensions were available and hair consumers knews as much about hair color as they do today.

Most people would unlikely wish to steal Jenna's hairstyle from My Name is Earl exactly as she wore it under the character of Kimmi. They also would be unlikely to want to tangle with a badger.

However, if you like the basic double ponytail hairstyle, which is back in popularity, you can steal the look, but with more up-to-date color.

Follow the steps listed below to recreate Jenna's basic double side pony hairstyle:

1. Start by selecting a shampoo and conditioner with a color safe formula like the Phyto Colored Hair System, to preserve any blonde highlights or lowlight hues.

If you have the baby yellow duck hue at the top of Kimmi's hair, make a beeline to your local hair color correct specialist to help you achieve a more natural color and to help you get a consistent color from roots to ends.

One you have your blonde colors back on track consider using a color appropriate shampoo like Rene Furterer Okara Repairing Shampoo or select a shampoo that works with your current texture, type and condition of hair. Eliminate dry strands with J.F. Lazartigue Micro Pearl Shampoo for Dry hair.

6. Blow dry using a large round boar's bristle brush (shown to the side - Conair Round Brush) for strong, lasting support. Direct the air flow down from the roots towards the end to build in shine and smooth strands.

7. Use fingers to lightly pick and lift near the roots for desired volume and lift while using a round brush to lightly roll the ends of the hair under.

8. When hair is 100% dry use a tail comb or brush to create the desired part.

Separate hair into individual 2" sections and set on medium sized hot rollers, or curl with a medium sized curling iron to add movement to the strands.

If curling with a curling iron, after working with each section, roll the newly formed curl with your fingers up towards your scalp and pin into place to allow the curl to cool completely. Work around the entire head until all sections have been curled and pinned to the scalp. Spritz lightly with a soft hold hairspray.

If curling with hot rollers, let the curlers completely cool before removing. Once all the rollers have been released, let new curls dangle free before styling. Spritz lightly with a soft hold hairspray.

9. Use your fingers and/or a boar's head brush to lightly break up the curls and arrange into a soft finished halo of bouncy waves that terminate into a slight curl at the tips.

Apply a small drop of shine serum and lightly brush over the top of the finished style. If you prefer, use a shine spray product and spray into the palms of your hands and then glide over finished style. If desired, finish the look with a long lasting hairspray for a silky shine effect.
