Gretchen's 15 Minute Prom Updo
Gretchen Maurer
Date: 5/4/2000

Introduction

The Hair Boutique is very proud to have a fabulous Gallery of Styles from wedding hair stylist Gretchen Maurer

We have been very lucky to have Gretchen's Gallery  for almost one year. The Hair Boutique has received lots of compliments on Gretchen's excellent hairstyles and photographs.

Anyone who has visited Gretchen's Gallery or her wonderful web site knows that she is a very talented hair stylist, as well as a very caring and special person.

What I have discovered about Gretchen is that she really understands prom hair pressures and issues better than anyone.

Gretchen, for many years, has watched the stress that prom attendees go through trying to find a great style that works well for them and their Prom dress.

She knows that every girl attending her Prom wants her hair to look as great as possible.

With this in mind Gretchen has created a series of hair styling patterns and directions that can be easily duplicated at home.

Many girls around the world have purchased Gretchen's fabulous hair instruction kits for their weddings.

Gretchen has graciously put together this current kit for teens going to their prom who want an easy 15 minute updo that they can create themselves.

I think you will agree with me that Gretchen's hair styles and updos are some of the most beautiful that I have ever seen.  Every time that Gretchen sends more photos for her Hair Boutique Gallery I am in awe of the latest styles.

She never runs out of great new ideas for creating fabulous updos and hair looks.

Gretchen graciously emailed me this fantastic set of directions for a quick Prom style that is possible to create at home following Gretchen's detailed steps and photos.

A Prom bound female who follows Gretchen's very clear hair styling directions can create this look in approximately 15 minutes.

Gretchen has been creating these fantastic step-by-step styles for many years.

She has over 50 different hair style kits that can be easily created by following Gretchen's easy-to-follow steps. Her "hair" kits are available in print form.

Women from all over the world have bought Gretchen's incredible hair styling kits.

Step By Step Instructions

This current Prom updo is known as Gretchen's PT4 Model.

1. Split your hair down the middle front to nape.

2. Put in two top ponytails.

3. Split each pony onto three sections

4. Using a hair wax for control make two knots in each section and elastic the ends.

5. Loop up the sections and bobby pin the knots to the head.

6. Let the ends waterfall over.

7. Shape them as desired.

Tips

Long hair makes for a lot of texture and movement. With shorter hair make one knot instead of two.

A hot curling iron rolled with tension can also add curls to the ends if desired. For control use a wax or pomade on each section.

For this look add beautiful clamp butterflies or any other ornaments. Consider silk flowers, Velcro jewels, or decorative combs. Be creative!

Conclusion

For this great Prom or wedding look add clamp butterflies or any other ornaments.

Consider silk flowers, Velcro jewels, or decorative combs. Be creative!
