The same is true about her hair.  Cameron is very outspoken about her tresses and famously came out against hair extensions during her work on The Mask because they caused her scalp to bleed.

The blonde beauty generated media buzz when she showed up on a red carpet wearing a very short sleek bob and a jeweled hair clip.

According to reliable sources, Cameron has given add-on hair a second chance. However, as a rule, she prefers to wear her own strands in straight tousled styles that generally brush the top of her shoulders.  When captured by paparazzi in moments of play or off-screen, she often has her medium bobbed hair in an array of sassy mini ponytails, pigtails or pinned up with an array of obvious bobby pins or clips. 

During her appearance at the Shrek 2 Movie Premiere back in May of 2004 Cameron appeared on the Red Carpet wearing a fun yet slightly funky mini ponytail that was held in place with an array of bobby pins along the sides and the front.  Several strands near her hairline had escaped.  It was a very casual but fun and flirty do.  It suited Cameron just fine and proved that if you have enough hair to get into a ponytail, why not wear one?

Recently I caught a glimpse of Cameron who has been filming Holiday in London with Jude Law.  She had her hair pinned back in a similar baby pony style. 

Even though celebs in Hollywood are crazed for the new Ponytail trends, if you have minimal hair, but it can be squeezed back into a tiny pony, why not follow Cam's lead and give it a try.

If you wish to copy Cameron's mini pony start with hair that is shoulder length or longer and is either naturally straight or has been pre-straightened so that you can create the smooth side and back sections.   

The key to creating this style is to have an "anything goes" attitude.  If your hair is naturally fine or slippery, you have have to crank up the styling products to help hold the mini pony in place. 

Utilize the same tricks that Cameron did and deploy lots of strategically placed bobby pins.  Although Cameron used gold bobbies to match her blonde tresses, it is fashionable ala Sarah Jessica Parker to wear black bobbies against light color hair and vice versa.

Depending on your face shape, hair texture and type, work with your stylist to select whether you should go with a slicked back front and sides like Cameron did.  You may wish to modify this ponytail by adding a front fringe or some loose ringlets along the cheekbones.

Follow the steps listed below to steal Cameron's mini ponytail hairstyle:

1.  To duplicate Cameron's edgy mini ponytail, shampoo hair with a product designed to address your hair's special needs.  If you color, highlight or chemically treat your hair, select a shampoo that supports those treatments.  If you prefer, use a dilution formula or a conditioning only (CO) treatment.

Note: For extra volume in the crown area, try PhytoVolume Shampoo or PhytoVolume Mousse Shampoo.

Note:  Ponytails are often easier to style when hair is slightly aged from the last shampoo.  Newly washed, soft, or slippery hair, can often be trickier to work with then “day old” hair.  

If your hair is naturally slippery, you may wish to let your hair "age" a few hours after shampooing before attempting this style.
2.  Apply the appropriate rinse-out conditioners.  (Avoid if hair is super thin or fine).
3.  Finish with a cool/cold water rinse to close cuticles and encourage natural shine.
4.  Towel blot and apply very light cocktail of desired leave-in detangler, conditioner or styling products (firm holding mousse or gel).
5.  For extra control along the crown and sides, apply a firm holding or sculpting gel.
6.  Blow dry hair straight using a blow dryer with a concentrator attachment. If hair is naturally curly or wavy, apply a straightening balm like Phytodefrisant or similar to damp strands.  Use a boar's head style paddle brush and separate hair into individual sections.

7.  When hair is completely dry, spray entire head with a firm holding spray like PhytoPro Strong Finishing Spray or similar. 
8.  Use a Mason Pearson, Kent or similar boar's bristle brush or your fingers to direct all of the hair away from the face towards the back of the head. 
9.  Go get the same pony look as Cameron, which is at the back of the head, gather hair tightly into a ponytail with a base that rests halfway between the nape of the neck and the top of the head.
10.  Attach  a hair-friendly Bungee Band or Blax in the same color as your hair, make sure that the band is wrapped tight enough to hold the hair into place.  Use fingers to tousle the finished tail to give it that fluffed up look.
11.  Firmly anchor the hair along the sides and around the ponytail with pairs of bobby pins that are placed in an X formation to hold hair in place.
12.  Once the mini pony is created spray well with firm holding styling spray like PhytoPro Strong Finishing Spray .
13.  Apply a light touch of shine product to add shimmer.  Remember not to apply too much shine product.

Finish your look by adding appropriate accessories such as earrings, necklaces and where desired, hair accessories.  Scale them to work with the length and size of the finished mini ponytail.
