Hair Blog Inspiration
My ultimate goal, when I write a HairBoutique.com blog, is to create something unique, interesting or unusual in the hair world.
Recently I received some amazing hair blog inspiration from WTF which is short for Watch The Film Blog.
WTFL CHAPPIE (2015) Review
Movies and films of all kind are a fabulous source of hair blog ideas. The possibilities are endless for every imaginable hair topic.
Saint Pauly is the producer and masterful film reviewer of the WTF blog.
A great example of Saint Pauly’s amazing reviews is the masterfully written spot-on analysis of WTFL Chappie (2015).
Chappie was a widely hyped movie with lots of promise serving up a whole lot of disappointment.
WTF did an amazing job of deconstructing the film while pointing out all the annoying clichés.
Bad Films Still Provide Great Hair Style Inspiration
I agreed completely with the WTF review.
Unfortunately, I was one of the film-goers hoodwinked into buying a ticket based on some brilliantly edited, but misdirected, previews.
If only I had visited WTF before I plunked down that cold hard cash.
Even though the film annoyed me because it was such a disappointment on the big screen, I did gather some great new hair style inspiration when I went back and read Saint Pauley’s film review.
Yolandi Visser Platinum Mullet
The role of Yolandi was played by the platinum blonde mullet haired Yolandi (stylized as ¥o-landi Vi$$er) Visser.
The South African-born lead singer (Anri du Toit) of the rave group Die Antwoord created a striking, albeit radical image, with her gangsta haircut.
Lots of inspiration just with Yolandi and “her bird mullet” as WTF referred to her tresses.
Ninja Radical Chappie Hair Styles
In addition to the extremely edgy hairstyles showcased by Yolandi in Chappie, there was the radical hair of South African rapper Ninja (Watkin Tudor James).
Ninja’s futuristic hairstyle featured shaved sides with a squared off disconnected brush top.
The hair is cut high up with most liked a number one blade. There’s no blending with the top which is worn short to encourage the bristle top form.
Hugh Jackmen & Sigourney Weaver
Since Chappie was a robot, he had no real hair to speak of, although he did adopt a gangsta style by wearing a big gold dollar sign necklace.
Hugh Jackmen and Sigourney Weaver didn’t have exceptional hairstyles, although for some reason Hugh Jackmen’s tresses didn’t look as dashing as they have in some of his other film roles.
Ditto for the signature red hued tresses of Sigourney.
