Dressy Short Hair Style

Dressy Short Hair Style

Dressy Short Hair Styles

One of the biggest challenges people with short hair report is thinking of ways to get dressy looks for special events.

With a little imagination and some experimentation it’s much easier than most think to create some dressy new hair styles on short hair.

Regardless of the hair’s type, texture or length, there are lots of way to instantly dress up short hair styles.

Listed below are some easy ways to instantly dress up short hair styles:

1.  Change the part.  A simple redirection of a normal part can add a brand new look to any hair style.
2.  Alter the texture.  If you normally wear your hair straight, wear it with texture or vice versa.
3.  Add a clip-in braid.  The style shown became instantly glam when a three strand braid was pinned off a side part and then draped over the front of the hairline.  Viola.  Instantly dressy.
4.  Add hair extensions.  Emma Watson rocked a simple, but elegant, jeweled hair clip when her hair was at it’s shortest and it created a gorgeous touch.  Experiment with skinny bejeweled headbands, barrettes, bobby pins or tiny crystal encrusted jaws or claws.
5.  Add or remove a fringe.  A simple thing like adding a smooth hairline fringe can instantly change up a short hair style.  If you don’t want a permanent fringe experiment with a clip-in fringe option.  If you already have a fringe, experiment with pulling it back with a headband or clips.
6.  Change the focal point.  If your hair is normally high at the crown play with adding height at the hairline instead.
7.  If you normally have allover volume consider wearing hair slicked back or down.  Or vice versa.
8.  Clip in a few strands with contrasting colors to create a completely different look.

Short Hairstyles And Ombré Haircolor

Ashlee Simpson Short Hairstyle - Platinum Blonde With Dark Roots

Ashlee Simpson Short Hairstyle - Platinum Blonde With Dark Roots

Short Hairstyles And Ombré Haircolor

An array of classic short hairstyles such as the pixie, the crop and chin bob short bobs are currently very popular.

Also extremely popular is the Ombré hair color trend which historically involved dramatic dark to light strands.  Ombré hair color traditionally consisted of dark roots flowing down into much light ends.

Ombré can be beautifully applied to blonde, brunettes and redheads with equally dramatic results.

While the Ombre trend looks amazing on shoulder length or longer tresses, it may not look as appropriate on short strands.

In fact, when not applied properly, Ombré on short hairstyles may just look like roots which have been neglected for an extensive period of time.

Ashlee Simpson, who has been sporting short platinum blonde hair recently appeared on the Red Carpet with dark roots.  While it’s no longer considered inappropriate to show root regrowth, it does not appear Ashlee was showcasing any type of Ombre hair color. (more…)

Eric Stonestreet Of ABC’s Modern Family’s Expensive Haircut Got Trashed In Orlando

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Actor Eric Stonestreet who plays the lovable Cameron on ABC’s Modern Family stopped by to see Ellen in Orlando at Universal Park.

Ellen likes to take her show on the road and being a huge roller coaster enthusiast, what better place to go than to Orlando where some of the best rides in the world exist?  This season is Ellen’s fifth year visiting Universal.

Eric arrived on Ellen’s big outdoor stage wearing shades to protect against the blistering Florida sunshine and a full tan suit complete with a striped long sleeve shirt.

He danced out onto the stage and waved at all the fans.  Ellen teased him about his long sleeve jacket and shirt by saving “I see you dressed for Florida weather.”  The actor agreed “yes, yes, yes, just shy of flannel.”

Ellen noted “you look really handsome but you have to be really hot.”  Eric “um, I’m sweltering underneath.”  Eric then shared about the rides he rode on and said “oh my gosh aren’t the rides here incredible?”

Riding The Rip Rocket Roller Coaster

Eric told Ellen that he was a “roller coaster enthusiast as a young man” and was excited to try out some of the roller coasters at the Orlando Universal park. (more…)

Hair How To: Questions You Must Ask Before Getting Any Cut Or Color

Monday, April 4th, 2011

It’s common knowledge in the hair world is that the devil is in the details.  What does this mean?

Quite simply that before you spontaneously pop into your hairstylist’s chair and whimsically ask for a sizzling new hair cut and dramatic new color you need to ask the following questions:

1.  What will it take to maintain this cut and/or color?
2.  How often will I need to do root touch up?
3.  How often will I need to have the cut trimmed or reshaped?
4.  Will this haircut work with my face shape?
5.  Will the color complement my skin and eye tone?
6.  Does this haircut work for his hair type, texture and current condition?
7.  Does this haircut add or subtract age and/or pounds?
8.  How difficult will it be to duplicate the styling techniques at home?
9.  If I decide I don’t like it how hard would it be to return to my current hair color and/or style?
10.  How long will it take the hair cut to grow out and what styles can I transition to?
11.  Are there new products I will need to buy to maintain the color or create the new styles?
12.  What is the best features of the color and/or cut?
13.  What are the worst features of the new color and/or cut?
14.  If you were me, would you recommend this cut and or color or something else and why?

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon From Fantastic Sams

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon from Fantastic Sams

There’s nothing worse then leaving the hair salon and not getting what you asked for. To insure this doesn’t happen to you, simply follow these easy tips from Fantastic Sams master stylist Pat Padilla:

1. Bring your stylist a picture of the hair style you are trying to achieve. According to Padilla, “it’s best if you have the front and the back view of the cut. If it is possible take the face out of the picture. Most people like the face a lot more than the actual hair style.”

2. “If you are going for a drastic change, let your family know what to expect when you walk through the door. Change is very hard for some family members,” advises Padilla.

3. “Always have an idea on how much you are willing to spend before you go into the salon. You will probably need to buy hair product to produce the style at home the next day which can also get expensive.”

4. Lastly, always consult with your stylist on how long it will take you to recreate the same look at home. As Padilla warns, “Woman today don’t realize that some styles are high maintenance. Most women don’t have an hour to spend on their hair.”

Hair How To: Cate Blanchett’s Short Chic Choppy Blonde Haircut

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Actress Cate Blanchett is famous for being unpredictable and a true hair rebel.  She’s worked with some of the best celebrity hairstylists in the work including Danilo and Mark Townsend who enjoy working with the trend setter.

Danilo has said about Cate “She looks incredible with long hair, short hair, a dark wig.”

Townsend has said “She always wants to do the opposite” with her hair compared to the current trends.  He noted “If someone’s wearing a couture gown with her hair up, she (Cate) wants to wear hers down.”

She will constantly surprise on the red carpet going with an elaborate updo or simply tousled bedhead hair.  With Cate you just never know what her hair mood will be.  Indeed Blanchett has been a redhead, brunette and blonde at various times in her esteemed acting career.

Hair How To:  Copy Cate’s Platinum Blonde Short  Choppy Hairstyle

If you want to copy Cate’s latest platinum blonde short choppy hairstyle ask your stylist for an asymmetrical and wispy short hair cut.  This haircut can be modified to work with most face shapes, hair types and even natural textures.

An image speaks a thousand words.  To make sure your stylist understands the haircut you desire, print out and take a few large sized images of Cate showing the front, sides and back of  her hairstyle.  Ask your hairstylist  if the haircut would work with your hair type, texture, length and current condition. Brooklyn Decker’s Short Choppy Haircut: Celeb Haircolorist Jason Backe Saves The Day

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

While the news of Brooklyn Decker’s big hair chop isn’t news to the world, it’s new to me.  I have to confess when I heard the news she cut 10 inches off her hair on March 22nd I just didn’t want to hear about it.  So I blocked it out.

I had just seen “Just Go With It” and she looked so stunning in the movie with her long buttery blonde locks I couldn’t believe she cut all her hair off.  I refused to even look at the photos flooding the news wires.  Nope, I just couldn’t bring myself to look at the photos.

Gorgeous In Just Go With It

Even though the critics panned “Just Go With It” I enjoyed it because I’m a huge Adam Sandler fan.   I always go see all of his movies, even if they might suck because I am such a huge fan.   Sandler’s “Spanglish” is one of my all time guilty pleasures when I’m feeling down and need a good cry mixed with some great laughs.  I owe him my loyalty for some of the amazing films he’s churned out over the years.   Yes, some have sucked but I still plunk my money down.  No matter what.

When I heard Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker and Nicole Kidman was in “Just Go With It”  I knew the film had to be good.  How could it not be? (more…)
