Valerie Bertinelli’s Long Lush Hair How To

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Hot In Cleveland star Valerie Bertinelli has a lush head of rich chocolate brunette strands which she wears with loose waves and curls throughout the edges.

Sometimes Valerie wears her hair so dark it takes on a raven black hue.  At other times her color base is a lighter milk chocolate highlighted with light hazelnut and caramel strands.

Valerie is known to have a lot of hair but it’s always possible she supplements her luxurious strands with either clip-in or fusion style extensions.  Of course the more hair Valerie has added to her own, the more fullness she can rock.

Step By Step Instructions

Follow the steps below to copy Valerie’s lush full hairstyle:

1.  Cleanse hair in lukewarm water with volume enhancing products.
2.  Apply a light rinse-out conditioner from the ears down to the ends while still in the shower.  Use fingers and a hair friendly detangling comb to gently detangle strands from ends to roots.
3.  After hair is detangled finish with a cool to cold water rinse.
4.  Towel blot to remove excess moisture. (more…)

Hope Dworaczyk’s Lush Head Of Hair – How To Copy

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Hope Dworaczyk is most famous for being named 2010 Playmate of the Year.  The American glamour model, TV host and reality television personality was born in Port Lavaca, Texas on November 21, 1984.

She is also well-known for her lush full head of rich chocolate brown hair which she wears full and luxurious.  Often Hope wears her luscious hair with curls and waves throughout the perimeter.  Sometimes she wears it almost raven black and at other times her hair color base is a lighter chocolate highlighted with warm ribbons of light caramel.

Although it appears that Hope’s hair is 100% all natural, for someone with hair not as thick as Hope’s it can be amped up with either clip-in or fusion style extensions.  The more hair you add-on, the bigger and more lush the finished look.

Follow the steps below to copy Hope’s hairstyle:

(more…)

Hair How To: Questions You Must Ask Before Getting Any Cut Or Color

Monday, April 4th, 2011

It’s common knowledge in the hair world is that the devil is in the details.  What does this mean?

Quite simply that before you spontaneously pop into your hairstylist’s chair and whimsically ask for a sizzling new hair cut and dramatic new color you need to ask the following questions:

1.  What will it take to maintain this cut and/or color?
2.  How often will I need to do root touch up?
3.  How often will I need to have the cut trimmed or reshaped?
4.  Will this haircut work with my face shape?
5.  Will the color complement my skin and eye tone?
6.  Does this haircut work for his hair type, texture and current condition?
7.  Does this haircut add or subtract age and/or pounds?
8.  How difficult will it be to duplicate the styling techniques at home?
9.  If I decide I don’t like it how hard would it be to return to my current hair color and/or style?
10.  How long will it take the hair cut to grow out and what styles can I transition to?
11.  Are there new products I will need to buy to maintain the color or create the new styles?
12.  What is the best features of the color and/or cut?
13.  What are the worst features of the new color and/or cut?
14.  If you were me, would you recommend this cut and or color or something else and why?

Hair How To – Part Your Hair In Different Ways For Instant Hairstyle Change

Although subtle, parting your hair in different ways can instantly change up your hairstyle.

While there are variations to any type of part, the most popular parts include:

1.  Side Part – Left or Right Side
2.  Middle Part – Straight Down The Middle
3.  Deep Side Part – Left or Right
4.  No Part
5.  Random or Combo Parts
6.  Zig Zag Parts
7.  Precision Parts
8.  Messy Parts

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow who has seen a major resurgence in her popularity due to her guest role on Fox/TV’s Glee provides great visual examples of different hair parts.

To the left (above) she wears a side part that is slightly messy, but extends from her hairline to the back of her head at the crown. To the right (above) she wears a deep side part which is  more precise, but pulls a large section of hair from the top of her head and directs it over to one side of her head.

Although a simple styling change, it makes a difference in her appearance.  One looks more formal, the other more casual. (more…)

Hair How To: Adrianne Palicki’s Sleek Shiny Bone Straight Long Hairstyle

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Adrianne Palicki has experienced a dramatic hair color journey during her acting career.

Palicki (born May 6, 1983) is best known for her role as the platinum blonde Tyra Collette on the NBC television series Friday Night Lights.  She was a series regular for the first three seasons of the acclaimed show.  Palicki left the series to appear in films, but returned to appear in the final two episodes of the series.

When she returned for the last two episodes of Friday Night Lights we came back as a dark cherry kissed brunette.  It was hard to believe it was the same Tyra Collette.  What happened to her platinum blonde tresses?

When Palicki left to co-star opposite Lucas Black in “Legion” her role called for her to be a brunette.  She also starred in Fox/TV’s “Lone Star” in which her hair was also dark chocolate.  Sadly “Lone Star” was canceled after just two episodes but she kept the dark hued tresses.

On February 16, 2011, it was announced that a still sultry brunette hue Palicki was selected to portray Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s adaptation for NBC.  It appears her days as a blonde are over.  At least for now. (more…)

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon From Fantastic Sams

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon from Fantastic Sams

There’s nothing worse then leaving the hair salon and not getting what you asked for. To insure this doesn’t happen to you, simply follow these easy tips from Fantastic Sams master stylist Pat Padilla:

1. Bring your stylist a picture of the hair style you are trying to achieve. According to Padilla, “it’s best if you have the front and the back view of the cut. If it is possible take the face out of the picture. Most people like the face a lot more than the actual hair style.”

2. “If you are going for a drastic change, let your family know what to expect when you walk through the door. Change is very hard for some family members,” advises Padilla.

3. “Always have an idea on how much you are willing to spend before you go into the salon. You will probably need to buy hair product to produce the style at home the next day which can also get expensive.”

4. Lastly, always consult with your stylist on how long it will take you to recreate the same look at home. As Padilla warns, “Woman today don’t realize that some styles are high maintenance. Most women don’t have an hour to spend on their hair.”

Hair How To: Cate Blanchett’s Short Chic Choppy Blonde Haircut

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Actress Cate Blanchett is famous for being unpredictable and a true hair rebel.  She’s worked with some of the best celebrity hairstylists in the work including Danilo and Mark Townsend who enjoy working with the trend setter.

Danilo has said about Cate “She looks incredible with long hair, short hair, a dark wig.”

Townsend has said “She always wants to do the opposite” with her hair compared to the current trends.  He noted “If someone’s wearing a couture gown with her hair up, she (Cate) wants to wear hers down.”

She will constantly surprise on the red carpet going with an elaborate updo or simply tousled bedhead hair.  With Cate you just never know what her hair mood will be.  Indeed Blanchett has been a redhead, brunette and blonde at various times in her esteemed acting career.

Hair How To:  Copy Cate’s Platinum Blonde Short  Choppy Hairstyle

If you want to copy Cate’s latest platinum blonde short choppy hairstyle ask your stylist for an asymmetrical and wispy short hair cut.  This haircut can be modified to work with most face shapes, hair types and even natural textures.

An image speaks a thousand words.  To make sure your stylist understands the haircut you desire, print out and take a few large sized images of Cate showing the front, sides and back of  her hairstyle.  Ask your hairstylist  if the haircut would work with your hair type, texture, length and current condition. Hair How To: Audrina Patridge’s Long Lush Waves

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Reality Star Audrina Patridge is famous for her long sexy hairstyles and hair hues.

Patridge recently took her trademark long lush beachy waves to a softer, lighter hue cascading from an off-center part.  Her latest hair color incarnation works well with her perpetually tanned skin.  The lighter hue also plays well with her eyes and lips.

Audrina admits on her official blog “I feel my hair is usually my biggest flaw!  My hair is actually naturally super straight! I don’t own a hair straightener.  I wish I had wavy hair. I usually put a wave in it, put it up in a pony tail or clip it half way back!”

As far as her natural hair and eye color, Audrina admits “I’m naturally a dirty blonde. My eyes are hazel, but at times look brown, amber or green. So when it comes to coloring my hair, I sometimes go dark which brings out the green.  But I tend to not ask for a specific color, – I like honey tones.”

Hair How To: Step By Step

To copy Audrina’s lightly tousled beachy waves, start with a toffee or caramel base infused with platinum highlights.

1.  Cleanse hair in lukewarm water with desired methodology such as shampoo, Diluted Shampoo (DS), Conditioner Only (CO), Water Only (WO), Lo Poo, No Poo or a combination.   Select the best products for your hair type, texture and condition.

2.  Rinse well.  Apply desired leave-in conditioner from the ears down to the ends.  With the conditioner still in the hair, use fingers or hair-friendly wide tooth comb to detangle.  Start from the ends and work slowly and gently up towards the roots. (more…)
