Callie Thorne How To Hairstyle As Dr. Dani Santino

Callie Thorne How To Hairstyle

Calliope "Callie" Thorne (born November 20, 1969) is best known for her roles on Homicide: Life on the Street as Detective Laura Ballard, a role she held for 2 seasons and the movie Homicide: The Movie as well as her role as Sheila Keefe on Rescue Me.

Now she's portraying the strong, sassy and savvy Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne).  Dr. Dani is a Long Island psychotherapist with the entire package of brains, beauty, chutzpah and subtle sexiness.

Necessary Roughness is based upon her comfortable suburban life that has been turned upside down by a messy divorce. Though initially wary about what her future will hold, Dr. Dani finds herself transitioning from devoted wife to in-demand therapist as word gets out about her counseling skills.

High-profile clients are knocking at her door in the hopes that Dr. Dani's tough-love style and take-no-prisoners counseling approach will help them overcome their crises.

From flailing football players to anxious news anchors to troubled politicians, Dani's clients constantly keep her on her toes as do her two kids. Luckily, Dani is tough enough to tackle just about any challenge, whether it's stubborn patients, rebellious teenagers or even the divorce dating scene.

Callie Thorne's Long Lush Hair How To

As Dr. Dani, Callie's base hair color is a gorgeous rich cinnamon brown completely interwoven with spectacular low lights in soft chocolate brown with highlights which are a light caramel.  The contrast between the cinnamon base and the lighter caramel is striking and plays up her striking eyes, lips and complexion.

Dr. Dani's hair appears to be medium in thickness with natural bend resulting in barely-there waves.

In her role as the serious, but sought-after therapist, she alternates between wearing her below-the-shoulder length tresses with just a little bend to amping up the waves for a special night out or a date with her new love interest, a former college instructor.

Callie's hair is precision cut with slight layers around her hairline and extending down to her shoulders.  Her layers provide beautiful volume throughout the sides and at the roots and crown.  They fall natural into a beautiful profile.

Whether she's wearing just a hint of waves or lots of texture throughout the edges, her hair falls strategically at the outside border of her mid-cheek and flips out slightly towards the shoulders before cascading down into loose waves at the edges.

When she and her friend are dressing up for a party or a visit to their high school reunion she tends to wear her hair with more volume, movement and full of lush waves cascading from a messy off-center part. This gives her hair the look of lush texture.

Callie has a combination of an oval and square shaped face which looks great with her long lush slightly waved hairstyle.  The length of her hair balances out her rounded chin.

Step By Step Instructions On How To Copy Callie Thorne's Hairstyle

Although Callie doesn't wear a traditional fringe, she has side swept panels of hair extending over the sides of her forehead from the off-center part.  It softens her face shape and gives her a very sultry look.  It also plays up her striking eyes.

Follow the steps below to copy Callie's beautiful long, lush wavy hairstyle:

Pre-Wash

Start by detangling hair with fingers or a wide tooth comb to remove knots, snarls and tangle. If hair is fragile it might be advisable to pre-oil the hair with a light jojoba oil or apply it just to dry or crunchy ends.

Cleanse

Wash hair in lukewarm water with the shampoo product designed for your hair type, texture and condition. If you wish, utilize your unique washing program ranging from full shampoo to Diluted Shampoo (DS), low poo, Conditioner Only Wash (CO Wash), no poo or water only.

Note: If you have chemically colored hair like Callie's it would be best to use either a highly diluted moisturizing shampoo, do a conditioning only wash (CO Wash) or use a product line specifically designed to preserve  this type of hair.

Rinse out shampoo (if used) and then apply a rinse out conditioner from the tops of the ears down to the ends and detangle with a wide tooth comb or fingers. Rinse well and then finish with a cool or cold water rinse. Towel blot (don't rub) to remove excess moisture. If the hair is washed with a Conditioner Only Wash (CO Wash) then detangle at the end of the cleansing cycle.

Post-Wash

Apply your designed styling cocktail to your hair working it through with fingers or a wide tooth comb.

Your idea cocktail to re-create Callie's hair might consist of, but not be limited to, leave-in conditioner, defristant, styling mousse and a volumizing spray for roots to get that lush look Callie showcases. Since chemically colored hair is dry and fragile, be sure to use moisturizing products.

Dry

Separate hair into 8-10 individual sections. Use a long finger diffuser working through individual sections at a time and allowing the strands to rest in the basin of the diffuser. After each section is dry, roll into a spiral or ringlet curl with your fingers and pin against your scalp to set.

The larger the section and the more hair included, the looser the ringlet.

To get lots of volume throughout the crown area you may prefer to separate hair into 1-2" sections and blow dry with a 100% boar bristle round brush.  Once each section is dry then roll around fingers into a big barrel curl pinned against the scalp.

Style

Unpin all sections of dry hair. Touch up any uneven sections with a curling iron if more texture is desired. Bend over at the waist and gently shake out curls. Arrange with fingers.  If you prefer loose waves rather than curls, deconstruct the newly formed curls with a 100% boar bristle brush.  Apply 1-2 drops of shine serum into the palms of your hands.
