Actress Scarlet Johansson, referred by some as ScarJo, set the hair world on fire with her recent appearance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. in an spicy deep red hair color. Her red tresses were parted down the center and worn finger tousled int0 a chin-length bob.
Although the 26-year-old actress is set to revive her role as the Black Widow in "The Avengers", no one knows for the sure the reason for her shorter, ruby hued hairstyle.
While the sometime blond bombshell has been making news with her separation from Ryan Reynolds and new romance with Sean Penn, it's hard to know the real reason for the new red hue.
Although I'm a huge fan of Scarlett and love her as a platinum blond, I'm not crazy about her latest red hair. The color is not my favorite hue for her skin tone and eyes and the center parted chin length bob accentuates her wide forehead, cheeks and her prominent chin.
Meanwhile Scarlett's past c0-star from "He's Just Not That Into You" (HJNTIY) Drew Barrymore also traded in her trademark butter blonde for her own version of ruby red.
Not only does Drew have a new love like Scarlett, she was spotted with the popular feather hair extensions.
Unlike Scarlett, the bubbly Drew did not appear to change the lengths of her locks and only appeared to darken the color. I like Drew's interpretation of red much more than Scarlett and I'm glad to see she kept a lot of length which in my humble opinion goes better with her face shape.
Gossip Girl Blake Lively joined the red hair movement by showcasing her trademark baby blonde hair transformed into a light strawberry blonde which actually looks quite stunning on her.
Her red hue created by celebrity stylist Rona O'Connor looks fabulous with her skin and eye tone and really looks amazing on her.
Rihanna & Evan Rachel Wood
In all fairness Rihanna deserves a major nod for her various electric red hues which she showcased recently on a guest appearance on American Idol (AI).
Rihanna's celebrity hairstylist explained to the media that she had custom colored a wig for Rihanna's AI appearance and it turned out spectacular.
Another red haired trendsetter is actress Evan Rachel Wood who appeared at the 'Mildred Pierce' premiere in New York City with newly colored honey-blond hair. Evan Rachel transitioned her famous magenta-red hair for a much lighter hue with lots of blonde highlights.
Is red hair the new platinum? Which of the newly red hued celebrities do you think rock their reds and which ones should have stayed with their previous hues?
