Meryl Streep Tells Golden Globe Crowd She Wants To Change Name To T Bone Streep

Looking gorgeous in a long black draped  off-one-shoulder gown with a matching black belt Meryl Streep won The Golden Globe for Actress In A Comedy Or Musical For the film "Julie And Julia" which co-starred Amy Adams.  She beat out Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock, to name a few of the great women in her category.

Her blonde hair was very polished and was brushed back off her face and pulled up into a top knot chignon which showcased her natural blonde waves.  She looked lovely, elegant and very classy.

Demonstrating her fabulous sense of humor Meryl started her acceptance speech by saying "Thank You.  I want to change my name to T Bone."  The crowd laughed and the camera flashed on a strawberry blonde Julia Roberts sitting in the audience with her hair worn long and in waves.

Meryl continued "T Bone Streep.  I think it sounds good."  Then she laughed.  "Oh gosh,  I am,  I'm going to forget what I wanted to say.  Because I'm overwrought.  "Dar", she called out into the audience "what was my first part?" She laughed as someone shouted "you love Nora."

Meryl smiled and said "Oh yeah, I love Nora.  I really am grateful to everybody.  Tony and Stanley (Tucci) of course.  And everybody in the cast and crew."

The audience applauded and the she continued "I just want to say, ah, ah, in my long career I played so many extraordinary women that I'm getting mistaken for one.  And.  No really, I'm very clear that I'm the vessel for other people's stories and other women's lives."

Meryl continued "and this year I got to play not only one of the most beloved women in America, Julia Child, but I also got to secretly pay homage to my own not so famous hero. That's my mother.  Who shared.  Who was of the same generation as Julia.  Who shared her verve.  A lot of the people in this room knew my mother and knew that she had a real joy in living.  And uh, she just had no patience for gloom and doom."

Meryl shook her head, smiled and said "I'm not like that.  I come to Golden Globes weekend and I am really honestly conflicted how to have my happy movie self in the face of everything that I'm aware of in the world."

Meryl "and I want to say that's when I have my mother's voice coming to me saying 'partners in health.  Shoot some money to partners in health.  Put a dress on.  Put on a smile and be damned grateful that you have the dollars to help and the next day and the next day and the next day.  I am really grateful.  I am really grateful.  So thank you.  Thank you Don (her husband), thank you kids."

Meryl left the stage to great applause carrying her Golden Globe Award.

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
