Plus Size Models In January Issue Of V Magazine

Last updated on February 13th, 2015 by Karen Marie Shelton

As of late there’s been a lot of scandal about models who were so thin they looked like they had been in death camps.  While some groups have started working to put a stop to the super skinny catwalk dolls, they are still the rule rather then the exception.

The pendulum is starting to swing with some of the fashion and beauty publications adopting the use of plus size models to balance out body image issues.  Glamour, a mainstream magazine recently started featuring plus size models.

Not V Magazine is joining the plus size club for their January 2010 issue.  Although V Magazine is not a mainstream publication, it does bridge many worlds and offers leading edge commentary on beauty, fashion and other current topics.  Not only is it cool that V is following the lead of Glamour to go plus size, you know the pictorials will be truly edgy and revoutionary.  I for one can’t wait to see what V does with their new direction in editorials.

V has released the word that Plus Size Model Crystal Renn is one of the models that will be featured. The ladies will be clothed and in-the-buff.  More importantly, they will be photographed by Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson and even Karl Lagerfeld, who has made some very rude comments about plus size ladies only a few months ago.  Is Karly trying to make nice with the real world of women?  Or is this is karma for past size sins?

I personally feel very fortunate to be able to watch all the trends in fashion, beauty and hair as they swing from extremes as the years go by.  It was only a matter of time before fashion changed their attitudes after models literally starved themselves to death on the world’s runways.

Bravo to Glamour and V.  Nicely played.
