Among the attendees were Angelo David, Mark Garrison, Brad Johns, Annette Hanson, John Allan, Rudy Sprogis, Inka Dorring as well as consumer and trade beauty editors and many industry manufacturers.
The b∙cause Foundation was supported by committee members Paula Dorf, Mark Garrison, Kevin Mancuso, Oribe, Garren, Marcia Kilgore, Pat McGrath and Orlando Pita.
b∙cause is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2000 to support charitable organizations that address the social concerns of salon owners and beauty industry professionals.
What is Make A Change Day? Salon owners who wish to participate can display a jar at their establishments and collect loose change. At the end of the collection the money is directed to a Coinstar machine and is transferred directly to the charity chosen for that year.
Since the launch of Make A Change Day in 2001, the organization has collected thousands of dollars in spare change. The spare change has funded programs for re-planting trees that were destroyed by wildfires, women entrepreneurs and provided hairpieces for children with long-term medical problems.
Donations are being accepted through April 30, 2004 for this year’s Make A Change Day recipient, the Alzheimer’s Association.Alzheimer’s is a disease that affects over 4.6 million Americans and there is no cure. The Alzheimer’s Association is the nation’s leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing research for the disease and helping those who are already affected.
