Americas Beauty Show

Cosmetologists Chicago(CC) is sending out a call to all hairdressers, nail techs, make-up artists and students to enter the annual STARS Photo Competition. The deadline for entries is January 27, 2012.

STARS entrants must be licensed professionals or students who wish to show their hair, nails, make-up and fashion talents by submitting photos of their creative work. The entries will be judged by celebrity stylist and Aquage creative director Luis Alvarez.

Competition winners receive cash, an advanced educational opportunity at a 2012 Chicago Aquage Academy and recognition at America’s Beauty Show, which is owned and produced by Cosmetologists Chicago.

CC will award one cash prize of $500 to the individual or team winner in each category. Participants can choose from three fashion categories that include Red Carpet Glamour, Urban Edge/Street Fashion and Salon Style Make-Over. The submissions must include both before and after photos of a model or client.

America’s Beauty Show will be held March 3-5, 2012 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
