Julia Stiles Long Lush Botticelli Waves Hairstyle How To

Actress Julia Stiles generated a lot of buzz recently when she was captured crying and sobbing in the LAX terminal.  Celebrity spies say that the former Dexter star, 30, received a telephone call upset her.

Julia is not only known for her recent guest starring role on Dexter, but for her recurring role on The Bourne Identity.  She is also admired for her long lush Botticelli Waves which she wears with a hint of curls sprinkled throughout the perimeter of her tresses.

The actress is known to have her hair cut into layers by natural texture experts in order to emphasize her curls and waves.   Her long lush Botticelli Waves look amazing when one side is tucked behind one ear.

Her base hair color is a creamy vanilla blonde with caramel low lights and white chocolate high lights.

Julia's color is beautifully engineered to allow the root regrowth to blend in perfectly although Julia does not have traditional Ombre hair color.  Julia Stiles Long Lush Botticelli Waves Hairstyle How To

Follow the steps below to copy Julia's beautiful long, lush Botticelli wavy hairstyle which she wears cascading off an off-center part with one side of her hair tucked behind one ear and the rest of the hair directed towards one side and draped over one shoulder.

This style works best on hair which is naturally wavy or curly.  It can be created on naturally straight strands with texture enhancing products and the use of a curling iron referenced in the steps below.

1.  Start by detangling hair with fingers or a wide tooth comb to remove knots, snarls and tangle. If hair is fragile it might be advisable to pre-oil the hair with a light jojoba oil or apply it just to dry or crunchy ends.

2.  Wash hair in lukewarm water with the shampoo product designed for your hair type, texture and condition. If you wish, utilize your unique washing program ranging from full shampoo to Diluted Shampoo (DS), low poo, Conditioner Only Wash (CO Wash), no poo or water only.

Note: If you have chemically colored, highlighted and lowlighted hair like Julia's  it would be best to use either a highly diluted moisturizing shampoo, do a conditioning only wash (CO Wash) or use a product line specifically designed to preserve  this type of hair.

3.  Rinse out shampoo (if used) and then apply a rinse out conditioner from the tops of the ears down to the ends and detangle with a wide tooth comb or fingers.

4.  Rinse well and then finish with a cool or cold water rinse. Towel blot (don't rub) to remove excess moisture. If the hair is washed with a Conditioner Only Wash (CO Wash) then detangle at the end of the cleansing cycle.

5.  Apply your designed styling cocktail to your hair working it through with fingers or a wide tooth comb.

6.  Create the desired part.  Use the highest point of the eyebrow and go up from there.  Take a section at the front hairline and direct to one side.

7.  Your ideal cocktail to re-create Julia's hair might consist of, but not be limited to, leave-in conditioner, defristant, styling mousse and a volumizing spray for roots to get that lush look the actress showcases. Since chemically colored hair is dry and fragile, be sure to use moisturizing products.

8.  Separate hair into 8-10 individual sections. Use a long finger diffuser working through individual sections at a time and allowing the strands to rest in the basin of the diffuser. After each section is dry, roll into a spiral or ringlet curl with your fingers and pin against your scalp to set.  The larger the section and the more hair included, the looser the ringlet.

Note: To get lots of volume throughout the crown area you may prefer to separate hair into 1-2" sections and blow dry with a 100% boar bristle round brush.  Once each section is dry then roll around fingers into a big barrel curl pinned against the scalp.

9. Unpin all sections of dry hair.

10.  Touch up any uneven sections with a curling iron if more texture is desired.

11.  Optionally take small sections and mist with a heat spray.  Using a 1/2-inch curling iron, wrap the section closest to the scalp to the right.  Then wrap the mid shaft to the left, and wrap the last third to the right.  Continue throughout, dropping from the base as you reach the top. Use a flat iron to smooth ends.

12.  Bend over at the waist and gently shake out curls.

13.  Finger comb hair to break up the curl.  Arrange with fingers.

Note: If you prefer loose waves rather than curls, deconstruct the newly formed curls with a 100% boar bristle brush.

Be careful to avoid breaking up waves and curls with a brush or fingers if hair tends to easily frizz since deconstructing curl or wave clumps may cause them to frizz.

14.  Apply 1-2 drops of shine serum into the palms of your hands.  Lightly brush serum infused palms over the top of the newly formed Botticelli waves.
