Chelsea Staub Kane Updo Hairstyle

Upswept Hairdo How To

Soft stunning spirals adorn the crown and the top of the head,  The fringe catches the light and sets off shimmering sparks.  This gorgeous up-swept hairdo provides instant elegance for any type of formal or dressy hair event.

The beauty of this elegant updo is that it can be modified to fit any face shape by changing up the fringe, the part and even how few or many spirals are created.

This updo can also be created as a sassy half up-half down hairdo as well.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Listed below are the steps for creating the hairstyle showcased by Chelsea Staub Kane,Dancing With The Stars fan favorite.

Step 1 - Cleanse hair in luke warm water utilizing hair cleansing products and methodology designed for your hair type, texture, length and current condition such as Water Only  (WO), Conditioning Only (CO), Diluted Shampoo (DS) or straight shampoo formulation.

If your hair is color or chemically treated you may wish to utilize a product designed to preserve color or moisturize chemically treated strands.

Step 2 - Rinse well with lukewarm water and use fingers to gently squeeze excess moisture from strands.

Step 3 - Apply rinse-out conditioner appropriate for your hair type, texture and condition.  Detangle strands with conditioner on tresses.  Use fingers or wide tooth hair-friendly comb and work from the ends to the roots.

Step 4 - Rinse well and finish with a cool or cold water rinse.

Step 5 - Towel blot strands to remove excess moisture.

Step 6 - Apply styling cocktail which may include, but not be limited to, leave-in conditioner, curling or styling cream, defrisant and/or heat protectant spray.  For added volume at the roots use a volumizing spray.

Step 7 - Separate hair into 4-6 horizontal sections and blow dry using a 100% boar bristle round brush.

Step 8 - Once hair is 100% dry separate hair into 6-8 sections.  Work on only one section at a time.

Step 9 -  Create a loose crown based pony by pulling strands up from either side and directing back towards crown.  Secure with a Blax in the same color as your hair.

Step 10 - Use a 1 to 1 1/2" curling iron to gently curl all sections of hair up from the base. Lift up each curly section and spray with  hairspray to help retain the shape.  As each section is finished being curled, loop it once around itself and pin into place.

Arrange curls so they appear to cascade from the back of the pony.  Leave some curls long and loose for a casually chic updo.  Use iron to create soft curls throughout the fringe and the top of the head.

Step 10 - Finish with a shine enhancing spray.  Spritz spray into the palms of your hands, massage together and then swipe over the top of your hair.

Daily Hair Tip
To protect against potential heat damage to your hair, always use a blow drier on the coolest setting and make sure to apply a good leave in conditioner that will protect the hair shaft from the dryer.
