Tips For Before You Go To The Salon from Fantastic Sams

There's nothing worse then leaving the hair salon and not getting what you asked for. To insure this doesn't happen to you, simply follow these easy tips from Fantastic Sams master stylist Pat Padilla:

1. Bring your stylist a picture of the hair style you are trying to achieve. According to Padilla, “it's best if you have the front and the back view of the cut. If it is possible take the face out of the picture. Most people like the face a lot more than the actual hair style.”

2. “If you are going for a drastic change, let your family know what to expect when you walk through the door. Change is very hard for some family members,” advises Padilla.

3. “Always have an idea on how much you are willing to spend before you go into the salon. You will probably need to buy hair product to produce the style at home the next day which can also get expensive.”

4. Lastly, always consult with your stylist on how long it will take you to recreate the same look at home. As Padilla warns, “Woman today don't realize that some styles are high maintenance. Most women don't have an hour to spend on their hair.”

To protect against potential heat damage to your hair, always use a blow drier on the coolest setting and make sure to apply a good leave in conditioner that will protect the hair shaft from the dryer.
