Katy Perry's Latest Hair Fad - A Fake Mustache

Katy Perry (aka Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson) has been the hottest It Girl for hair, fashion, beauty and shoes from the time she "Kissed a Girl" back in 2008.

The raven haired pop sensation has been setting off the world's radar non-stop even before her album dropped.

Perry is adored for her quirky style, perky on-screen persona and Joan Jett inspired smoldering looks.  Her debut album, "One of the Boys" featured the naughty single "I Kissed a Girl" which shot to the top of the charts.

She's been a continual presence on magazine covers like Nylon and Zink to the biggest and best of the fashion and beauty magazines such as appearing on the cover of Women's Wear Daily.

The sassy singing sensation has been busy with photo spreads, party stops, Red Carpets, celebrity hosting events and more.  The Katy Perry frenzy only accelerated when she met now-husband Russell Brand on the set of "Get Him To The Greek", started dating him and then went on a romantic trip to India.  The very public romance culminated in a picture perfect wedding in 2010.

She's also been busy triggering all sorts of new hair, beauty and fashion trends.  The candy and fruit loving Perry hammed it up for the cameras for her recent Dolly magazine cover shot down under in Australia for the April 2011 issue.  As photos released to the media have show, Perry dressed up like a majoretted and sporting a fake mustache for the shoot.

Wearing unique hair props isn't anything new for the blue eyed pop star who has worn Smurf blue hair and gigantic fake lips for the paparazzi.  Perry has told the media in the past "I love anything fruit."

Perry shared some of her life lessons for the predominently teen readers.  She tells them to have fun, hard work pays off and be good to your parents.

Perry caught the eye of designer Betsey Johnson after being snapped in one of the designer's dresses for WWD; soon after, Johnson was dressing the singer for various fall fashion shows in New York in February.

"Betsey really likes Katy's appearance," said a spokesperson for the company. "She's very curvy and pinup looking -- a typical Betsey girl."

She's also been known to hang out with zany T-shirt designer Johnny Cupcakes and dark-and-moody seamster Neil Barrett. Shoe designer Steve Madden tapped the 26-year-old (October 25, 1984) for an ad campaign in conjunction with her past album album release.

Even Karl Lagerfeld's a fan. Perry attended Chanel's party for its new boutique in L.A. wearing a black cocktail dress given to her by the house (a true fashion fanatic, she breathlessly blogged about the gift on www.katyperry.com).

Though Perry's playfully sexy style is the stuff of pop culture gold, the Santa Barbara native wasn't allowed to listen to pop music throughout her childhood.  Perry's parents, both traveling ministers, kept their kids on a strict diet of gospel music.

Meanwhile Perry's career continues to soar.  She recently had her first interview with husband Brand with Oprah of course.   Was she wearing her new fake mustache?  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.  With Perry, anything's possible.

Daily Hair Tip
A humectant hair product attracts moisture to the hair while an anti-humectant repels moisture. Use a humectant to combat static electricity and an anti-humectant to deal with humidity.
