Ginnifer Goodwin's Sexy Short Hair

Ginnifer Goodwin was born Jennifer Goodwin on May 22, 1978 in Memphis, Tennessee.   She's best known as Margene on HBO's Big Love, the third wife in a Mormon polygamous family. Sadly, this is the last season for Big Love.

The TV and film actress also co-starred in the movies Mona Lisa Smile and He's Just Not That Into You.  She also appeared in Ramona and Beezus (playing Ramona Quimby's Aunt Bea), co-starring with John Corbett, Bridget Moynahan, and Selena Gomez.

In 2008, MaxMara honored Goodwin with a "Face of the Future" award, an award recognizing up and coming women in film. Also, Goodwin was one of the celebrities featured in Gap's Fall 2008 ad campaign.

The adorable vegan actress changed her name from "Jennifer" to "Ginnifer" because that is how she and her family pronounced it in their regional dialect. Her younger sister, Melissa Goodwin, is a stop motion animator on shows such as the Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken, on which Ginnifer has also appeared as voice talent.

Ginnifer's Famous Short Crop Hairstylist

Ginnifer is also famous for the chic short crop hairstylist Ahn Tran created for her in 2009.   Tran, who works at Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills is also a member of the KMS Artistic Team.  Tran has confided to the media that her eventual goal with her hair is to go even shorter, like Jean Seberg."

Ginnifer's crop is a sexy, sweet, daring cut which looks amazing on the Big Love star.   Ginnifer joins the cropped hair ranks of Michelle Williams and Audrey Tautou.

The hairstyle Ginnifer wears on Big Love is drastically different than what she wears off-screen.   As the wife of a Mormon polygamist her chocolate brown hair is usually coiffed into medium length lightly curled hairstyle.   How does Ginnifer instantly go from medium length to super short tresses?  Tran explains that the actress "wears a wig on Big Love."

“She wears a wig on Big Love,” says Tran. The hairstylist keeps Ginnifer's short hair soft, sexy and feminine by keeping her ends tousled and soft.   He also brushes her fringe to one side across her forehead to create a sexier look.  Tran applies KMS California Hairstay Medium Hold Hairspray to create  a beautiful shimmer.

For special events Tran often styles Ginnifer with Audrey Hepburn in mind.   As a fan of KMS he likes to use their low Dry Lotion when blow-drying her strands to create a soft, yet edgy finish.

Steal Ginnifer's Crop

The beauty of a cropped haircut is that it can work with just about any face shape.  It can always be modified to work with just about any face shape or size.

Ask your hairstylist to match the shape of your crop to the shape of your face.  If you have a round or heart shaped face like Ginnifer go with a round shape for the cut.

Your hairstylist should start off in the back by creating square layers before moving into round layering with soft chipping at the face.

To style, blow dry the look with your fingers for a soft, shattered finish. A few drops of shine serum, spray or lotion will create a beautiful shimmer.

Daily Hair Tip
To protect against potential heat damage to your hair, always use a blow drier on the coolest setting and make sure to apply a good leave in conditioner that will protect the hair shaft from the dryer.
