Lydia's Hair color, Hair style & Hair Accessories on Big Brother 11

Lori Ann Reynolds who is one of my Twitter friends recommended I check out Big Brother 11 on CBS.

While I do watch a lot of reality TV shows so I can track hairstyles, fashion and hair accessories...I don't watch all Reality TV.  There isn't enough time in the day to watch all the shows on all the channels.  Right?

I decided to take Lori Ann's advice and watch Big Brother (BB) to see what it was all about.  Luckily I had it On Demand for free.  I sat down and watched the first episode and before I knew it I was completely hooked.

Not only is BB interesting from a I Love It/I Hate It viewpoint, the hair, the clothing and the accessories are fascinating.  Is this real life?  When it comes to reality TV you never know...right?

I must confess, the hair alone on Big Brother makes it worth watching for me.  There is every type of hairstyle, hair length, texture, color and condition imaginable on both the men and the women.

My vote for best hair color, hair style and hair accessory watching on Big Brother 11 is for Lydia who is a petite multi-tattooed make-up artist with  a very unique fashion and hair style personality.

Lydia was originally assigned to the Off Beat Clique but immediately gravitated towards Jessie (Athlete Clique) who is on BB for the second time.

Even more importantly Lydia has a "thing" for Jessie who has been shown rubbing her feet and flirting with her.  The only think holding Lydia and Jessie back from a full blown hook-up is Natalie who also has a "thing" for Jessie.

Meanwhile, in my humble opinion, Lydia has the most fascinating hair theme going in the entire BB11 house.  Not everyone will agree, but for me it is a constant interest to see what she will do next to her short layered strands and what accessories she will wear.

Lydia - Short With Bleached White Blonde Hair

Lydia has the most extreme hair color and hair style wearing it very short with bleached white blonde hues.

Lydia's hair is white white blonde but her skin tone and eye color indicate she is naturally a medium to dark brunette.  At one point there was a mention she might have a Latin heritage.

Note: If you're going to go with an extreme color change from naturally brunette to bleached white it is a great idea to wear your hair short to minimize damage to your strands.

Lydia has very obvious dark roots which she minimizes with a wide range of hair accessories.  I'm not sure if the House Guests, as they are called, have access to hairdressers while in the house?  Probably not, but you never know.

Can House Guests Color Their Hair On The Show?

Can the House Guests color their hair while they are on the show?  Good question.  A hairstylist is listed in the credits but is that for House Guests or not?  I would think Julie Chen, the hostess of the show, would have a hairdresser for her tresses but it is unlikely the House Guests have access.

Although another Guest, Jordan, works in a hair salon she is also a waitress part time and it has never been confirmed or denied if she is a licensed stylist.

If the House Guests can't color their hair during the course of their stay then Lydia's dark roots will be really long by the time the show is over if she survives until the end.

Contrasting Skinny Black Elastic Headband

Lydia does a fantastic job of making her short white blonde tresses look different all the time.

She often wears a very cute thin elastic headband in a contrasting dark color (it appears black) a few inches back from her hairline.  It is a striking look whether her short hair is combed bone straight, tousled, back combed, clipped or gelled up.

Note: Similar skinny elastic as well as non-elastic strong grip headbands include those from Bungee and Scunchie.

Large White Flower Embellished Headband

She also wears a huge white flower embellished headband which is striking.  You might not think someone with short white hair would wear a really big flower headband and pull it off, but she does.

It actually makes her hair look whiter, bigger and full of lots of volume.  To offset the stark whiteness of the snowy flower she will often either wear glasses with dark frames or do her make-up really bold with lots of eye shadow and black liner.

Bandanas, Fedoras, Hair Accessories Galore

I'm never bored by what Lydia is doing with her hair.  Sometimes she wears bandanas as full head coverings in a scarf like profile.

Next time she wears a bandana she might retie it with the knot near the front of her hairline to give the illusion of a type of headband or head wrap.

Lydia has an ingenious way of using everything in her wardrobe and mixing and matching items which she instantly converts to hair accessories.  I keep expecting to see her in a head wrap made of her jean shorts or a t-shirt.  Nothing would surprise me regarding her hair at this point.

She also applies lots of hair gel ir paste and then creates a type of small ducktail in the back of her head. Sometimes her hair looks smooth, sometimes piecy and sometimes completely tousled.  She really knows how to play up her texture for a wide range of hairstyles.

The anything-goes member of the OffBeat Team also colored her hair orange for one of the competitions.

I wonder how she did that considering her bleached blonde hair is very porous and it could very well have stained it.  However, she seems to have come out of the orange color period unscathed.

What's Next For Lydia's Hair?

What's next for Lydia's hair?  Its hard to say how she will change it up next.

Will she pull even more hair accessories out of a closet somewhere or will she let her hair grow a bit longer and adopt baby ponytails or tiny braids?  She may also cut her fringe or add more layers to her already fractured texture.

It's hard to say.  I can't decide whether I want Lydia to stay on Big Brother to see if she wins Jessie's heart or how she is wearing her hair.

There's no question Lydia is one of the most fascinating members of the house to watch whether it's because of her hair color, styles and accessories or because she is actively battling Natalie for Jessie's attentions.

In a Clairol Professional survey 33% of the respondents reported that they preferred to have their hair colored in a salon rather than risk doing damage at home. 50% of the participants said they liked their colorists best because of friendliness while only 38% valued good advice about haircolor or the fact that the colorist kept up on the latest trends.
