Organic Spray Tan at Smooth Synergy

Organic Spray Tan at Smooth Synergy®

Before Tanning Tips

• Exfoliate your body before the application. This is easily accomplished by rubbing a damp soapy face towel firmly over your skin when showering. Pay attention to rough skin areas like knees, elbows, ankles and the tops of your feet.

• Do not apply moisturizer to your skin at this stage as doing this will reduce the final result. We also recommend that you don't wear any make-up. Wear attire suitable for tanning: we suggest a bikini for women and dark shorts or a swimsuit for men.

• Shave or wax 24 hours prior to application

The actual spray tan should take about 10-15 minutes for full body application.

When you arrive at Smooth Synergy® you are greeted by the professional and always friendly spa staff. You will check in with the receptionist and wait for your esthetician. You esthetician has prepared your treatment room with a tan tent to keep from surrounding materials coming in contact with the spray.

Before stepping into the tent you will undress or expose the area of the body that you wish to bronze.

For full body tanning, Smooth Synergy recommends a bikini for women and dark shorts or swim shorts for men. You can opt to go nude and/or topless. Smooth Synergy also has hair nets available. Clients can wear their hair up or in the net. The solution by no way will cause damage to ones hair.

You will then place disposable adhesive foot shaped cut outs to the bottoms of your feet. These are used to prevent the soles of the feet from absorbing the tanning solution. To apply just remove the adhesive strips and step onto the cut outs.

You are now ready for the trained esthetician to apply the tanning solution.

They will start with the natural creases of your body. The hard to reach areas are below/under your buttock, behind the knees, under the breasts and where your arm bends.

The esthetician will ask you to squat so that when she is applying the solution it is being passed over stretched skin. You are going to be active while enjoying your new bronzed body so we want your skin to remain tan as you move. As she applies the solution she is also applying a stream of air over the skin to dry the liquid as it hits the skin to prevent streaking.

Once the creases and hard to reach areas are dried the next step is to apply the solution on to the rest of your body. The esthetician will start with your back. Making passes with the spray on the back of you neck, upper and lower back on to your rear and the length of your legs and ankles.

Next the esthetician will tan your arms. The arms require special attention because they are not a large area but very visible. While you are standing with your back to the esthetician she will ask you to hold your arms down, slightly bent but away from your sides. She will spray the upper arm with one motion and then the forearm with another, allowing the solution to graze the skin. Once the solution has dried on your skin she will see if the area will need any more passes.

She will before this spray, apply air to dry and re apply throughout the remainder of the body. Once she has completed the chest, shoulders, breasts, abdomen, hips, thighs, etc. she will take one more overall look to make sure that all areas and most importantly creases have been covered, evenly with the solution. Any touch ups that need to be done will be done now.

The only parts left to do are the top of the feet, front of neck, hands and face. We these areas your pay very close attention to the amount of solution because they do not need that much to cover. Just one or two passes of the solution over the tops of the hands and feet will be enough, depending on size.

When spraying the neck the client just keeps looking forward while the esthetician sprays the area and applying the air to dry immediately to avoid streaking. The face is sprayed in three parts. While the client faces forward with their eyes closed the esthetician will spray the front of the face first (nose, forehead). The solution will be sprayed over the lips and eyes. Next she will ask the client to turn to the left or right and spray the solution over the check, side of chin and side of neck and do the same on the opposite side.

Taking one more glance over the entire body to make sure that all areas are covered evenly and touching up any areas that need further passes.

The client is done being sprayed. They will be asked to continue to dry for about 5 more minutes.

Smooth Synergy recommends that you put on dark, loose fitting clothes after your treatment. You want your newly bronzed skin to be covered but also breathable.

After Tanning Tips

• Do not wet your skin for at least 5 hours after the tanning session, this includes hand and face washing. Showering the following morning is the best option, however, if it has been at least 8 - 10 hours since your session, you may session

• We also recommend that you do not exercise or perspire excessively between the tanning and the showering phase. When showering don't be concerned if some of the initial bronzer washes off - this is part of the Smooth Synergy UV-Less tanning process, and your skin will continue to tan.

• Apply moisturizer twice daily after showering. This reduces the rate at which your skin exfoliates and will keep your tan looking better for longer.

• Other considerations in maintaining your tan are to avoid long baths, hot spas and extended swimming sessions. Shorter sessions are preferable. Also avoid products designed to exfoliate your skin.

Ingredients and some more information

Smooth Synergy's Organic Sunless Spray Tan offers a unique combination of mineral salt bronzers and the approved cosmetic tanning agent DHA20 to produce a natural looking tan. DHA20 is dihydroxyacetone, a carbohydrate (monosaccharide sugar) compound approved by the FDA for use in externally applied sunless tanning solutions. DHA20 is derived from a vegetable source like beets or sugar cane.

Smooth Synergy uses the lowest amount of DHA20 to allow the tan to gradually darken. Unlike other spray tan facilities, Smooth Synergy offers its clients the opportunity to choose their shade of bronze to compliment one's skin tone. Whether light, medium or dark, Smooth Synergy blends the tanning agent to look natural and streak free. The trained aestheticians will personally bronze you, reaching all of the hard to reach places, leaving you with a full body tan, unlike the spray tan booths that leave you streaked and blotched.

Also odor-free, this sunless tan matures gradually while continuing to look natural. Smooth Synergy ensures the tan dries as they go along, leaving customers with a streak-free tan.

The UV-less tanning product contains no alcohol, oils, perfumes or potentially harmful chemicals or preservatives. This vegetable-derived product can even be sprayed over makeup. The Smooth Synergy UV-Less Tan lasts 5-7 days depending on your skin type and preparation. Regular moisturizing will extend the tan's life.
