Tricia's Walk For Breast Cancer

Introduction

If you read Tricia Brown's story about her long fight against cancer with her husband Eddie, you know that she is determined to do something to help fight this disease. Tricia wants to help by walking in the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer walk.

Tricia will be participating in the New York 3-Day walk. This walk will take place in October and Tricia is already working hard to get ready and be in shape.

Tricia's Hair Challenge

As Tricia explained in her story, she cut off all of her hair when her husband Eddie lost his due to chemotherapy. Now Tricia's hair is short, It currently sits just below her chin.

Tricia wants to find a new style that she can wear during the three days that she is on the walk without any upkeep. As Tricia explained it, she will be up in the mountains and walking all day, getting hot and sweaty.

There will probably not be a lot of opportunities to shampoo or deal with complicated hair requirements.

Good point.

Tricia and I exchanged a few emails about the type of style that would probably work best for her. I did suggest that she consider some braids that would stay put. While Tricia agreed that she liked that idea, she pointed out that her hair was still pretty short.

If you read Tricia's story about her husband, you would understand that when he started losing his hair to his chemotherapy, she cut all of her hair off to support him in his journey.

Now her hair is only mid-length, sitting just below her chin, and so she is limited to the different styles that she can wear. Tricia is working with her own personal stylist to come up with a good solution.

Tricia's initial thought was to create a style that is like a French Twist in the front of the hair that ends at three different kind of wavy braids with long tails. It was a little hard to visualize the exact style that Tricia was considering.

She has promised to send photos and pictures of the styles. Tricia will do a trial run of her style in the next few weeks. If she finds a style that she thinks will hold up during the three day walk through the mountains, she will then fine tune the style and send us photos.

Tricia has also agreed to send us all her notes and photos about the actual experience over the next few months. Hair Boutique will be doing a phone interview with Tricia and will publish the results of her heroic walk.

To try and get the best hair style for her journey Tricia has been looking at hair styling magazines and books to get lots of great ideas. This is always a good strategy. A photo speaks a 1,000 words.

One thing that Tricia is sure about, she wants to keep her bangs straight.

Tricia wanted me to be sure and tell everyone that sponsors her for her walk, that she will include their names on the donors list and on her personal T-Shirt.
