Terax Original ShamP - Fior Di Camomilla (for blonde, grey & delicate fine hair) is a shampoo formulated in Italy especially for blonde and delicate hair.
The Fior Di Camomilla is just one of the six different Terax ShamP "natural shampoos" from Terax which also includes the following other offerings:
Since I have some blonde highlights, I wanted to give this a try. Also, it just so happened that my best friend, Jana, was visiting when I brought it home.
She recently had her medium brown hair highlighted with blonde streaks, so she tried it as well.
Terax Original ShamP Shampoo
This shampoo makes a good head of lather, and leaves your hair squeaky clean. However, both of us found that the shampoo made our hair drier.
My hair already tends to be dry, and Jana's tends to be oily. It's interesting that the shampoo dried our two completely different hair types.
Terax claims that the compounds in ShamP (most of which come from the chamomile flower), "through a natural, progressively lightening action acts on the hair pigment" to bring out "the intrinsic golden-blonde tonalities," and claims that the lightening action is "absolutely natural" without any sort of chemicals.
Frankly, I'd like to see more information about this mysterious lightening action. Neither I nor my friend saw any difference in blonde highlights using ShamP.
Use about a quarter-sized glob of the shampoo on wet hair and distribute it evenly throughout the hair. Rinse thoroughly.
Terax's packaging is fresh-looking with its white bottle and bright green and yellow lettering. It is easy to handle with wet hands, and the faint, flowery scent makes shampooing a pleasant experience.
Terax uses a chamomile essence in ShamP that is subtle and fresh. It scents the hair while you shampoo, but does not linger after your hair has dried.
How I Tested Terax Original ShamP
I shower every morning, and usually wash my hair about every other day. Since summer is upon us, I was anxious to enhance the few natural blonde highlights I have, and wanted to see if Terax would make them look brighter.
After applying the shampoo to my wet hair, I gave my hair and scalp a good massage. After rinsing out the shampoo, I noticed that, though my hair was certainly squeaky-clean, it felt dried out even while wet.
After towel-drying my hair, I applied a little conditioner to counteract any drying effect from the shampoo. After that, I used my usual Bed Head gel and spray. The final result looked good, but in no way did my highlights look any more blonde. Jana, who had had her hair streaked before she visited me, felt that the shampoo actually dulled her color! Eeeeeeeeek!
If that weren't bad enough, both Jana's and my hair felt drier than usual. We both felt like jumping back into the shower and using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Not a good sign.
Water, sodium lauryl sulfate, MEA lauryl sulfate, cocamide propyl betaine, cocamide DEA, chamomilla recuttia, sodium chloride, hydrolyzed collagen, linolenic acid & polyquarternium-7, PEG-6 undecylenate, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, fragrance, methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone -diol.
No animal testing.
I have to say that I am disappointed with Terax Original ShamP. Not only did it NOT brighten blonde highlights as it claimed, but it was very drying to the hair.
To be fair, we used it on brown hair with blonde streaks. Perhaps if you are completely blonde this may work for you.
On my own scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I give Terax Original ShamP a 2, and you can't dance to it.
Hair Boutique Note: The price of the Terax shampoo is approximately $12.00 - $15.00 for an 8.4 oz bottle depending on whether you buy it retail or not. This is in U.S. Dollars and may or may not include tax.
