Hair & Beauty: Dolling Up At Home

Economy Leads More Women To Throw At-Home Beauty Parties

July/August 2003 (Newstream) -- For many women, the hot new Saturday night trend is staying in. A new survey shows that 80 percent of young women are nixing a night out in favor of an all girl gathering at home. (Image of Jaqua Girls Mini Beauty Parlour Nite Kit).

At-home beauty nights and spa parties with friends are gaining popularity as a cheaper, more intimate alternative to spending a lot of money at salons.

With budgets tight, people are choosing to cut extra costs in order to save. For women, that often means having to skimp on salon treatments like hair coloring and manicures. But rather than walking around undone, they're choosing to take their beauty regimens to their friends.

And beauty companies are taking note. More and more of them are offering home-kits that even an amateur can master. Women are banding -- and bonding -- together to highlight their hair and doing their nails in the comfort of their own homes. (Image of Lucky Chick's Scrub, Scrub, Scrub at home spa kit).

Intimacy, affordability and glamour -- all without walking out their front doors.

A woman couldn't ask for more.

Contrary to popular belief, dreadlocks do not have an unpleasant aroma unless the wearer is putting something weird in the dreads or not caring for them properly.
