Magical Oil Recipe For Healthy Scalp

Introduction - Magical Oil Recipe For Healthy Scalp

Rosemary-3_250h Rosemary Herbs

In 1982 when I co-founded the first alternative health care clinic in St. Louis, Missouri - Atrium Health Services - I've been working with magic oils.   I developed my own custom  formulas including a wonderful magical oil recipe for healthy scalp.

During my time at Atrium I offered licensed therapeutic body and scalp massage treatments which featured the  amazing benefits of a wide range of oils.

Rosemary Essential Oil Treatments For Stalled Hair Growth

Whether you're dealing with stalled hair growth, increased hair loss or an itchy scalp, simply adding 1-2 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil (EO) to your regular cleansing or shampoo formula will help to amp up natural circulation to the scalp.  The essential oil is very warming, cleansing and offer natural detoxification.

Increased blood flow to the scalp, triggered by the use of Rosemary EO, will help nourish the hair roots.  It will also help make hair healthier, softer and shinier.  It's no accident that rosemary is a popular ingredient in scalp treatment products.

Note:  Rosemary is best utilized by those with brunette or darker hued strands.  Rosemary herbal rinses are often used to color gray strands.

Some people with light blonde hair have reported slight staining with the direct or ongoing application of Rosemary oil or herbal rinses to their strands.  When in doubt, don't use Rosemary Oil or related herbs on lightly colored strands.

Rosemary Magical Oil Recipe For Healthy Scalp

Listed below is my favorite Rosemary Oil recipe for the creation of a healthy scalp:

Ingredients

Be sure to use essential rather than synthetic oil.  When possible, use organic oils.

Mix the following essential oils in a base of 1/2 ounce of jojoba oil:

2 drops of Rosemary

2 drops of Lavender

2 drops of Clary Sage

2 drops of Jasmine Absolute Oil

Note:  Always use the finest essential oils available.  If you have a tendency to be allergic to oils, do a patch test before applying to your entire scalp.

Directions

Pour a few drops of the oil mixture into the palms of your hands.  Rub your hands together to mix and warm the oil.  Massage the essential oil mixture into your scalp with the pads of your fingertips.  Be careful not to scratch delicate scalp tissue.

Cover with a warm towel or plastic wrap and allow to remain for up to 60 minutes.  Apply a few drops of undiluted shampoo and pat onto the essential oil mixture.

This will help cut the oil when showering.  Apply water and cleanse as usual.  Apply rinse-out conditioner and detangle in the shower.  Rinse well and finish with a cool/cold water rinse.

Towel blot hair, apply desired leave-in conditioner or products and allow hair to air dry if possible.

More About Rosemary Essential Oil

Pregnant women should never use any type of rosemary essential oil treatment on the hair, scalp or body since it is known to cause premature delivery.

Inhaling rosemary for more than four hours can cause damage to the nerves in the nose and cause headaches.  Pelple with chronic asthma, COPD or bronchitis may find the scent of rosemary too overpowering and it may trigger wheezing in some cases.  Epileptics may also need to avoid the strong scent of rosemary to avoid triggering seizures.

Make sure rosemary is never applied directly to the skin without being diluted in carrier oils such as jojoba, almond or olive.   When in doubt about the safety of any essential oils always consult with your primary physician.

Keep out of the reach of children and away from the eyes or mouth.  Always stores all oils in a cool dry location.  Mix oils in amber, dark blue or other glass jars which filter out light.
