UV SunSense Wrist Bands Help Reduce Risk Of Sun Damage With Unique Technology That Makes Outdoor Activities Worry Free

Enjoying your days in the sun and avoiding harmful UV rays are no longer at odds with one another. The sleek new UV SunSense wristband gauges the sun’s intensity and changes colors as your sunscreen wears off – so you don’t have to.

The UVSunSense wristband acts as a sun-sensitive gauge: apply sunscreen to your scalp, face, hairline and body and to the wristband before tanning, going to the beach, playing by the pool or just enjoying the outdoors. Watch as the band changes colors so you know exactly when you need to reapply and avoid the risk of painful sun damage, keeping your skin healthy and radiant.

UVSunSense will work with any sunscreen that’s SPF 15 or higher and can be worn in salt, fresh or chlorinated water so you don’t have to limit your outdoor activities. Playing sports, swimming, running or just hanging out in the backyard has never been easier, safer or more worry free.

“Right now, the only way to know if your sunscreen is working is if you don’t get sunburn – and by then, it’s too late,” said Dr. Jody Levine, a dermatologist at Plastic Surgery & Dermatology of NYC. “The UVSunSense wristband takes the guesswork out of outdoor recreation and gives you accurate, real-time information that will help keep you and your family safe and healthy.”

How it Works

The wristband’s four color stages let users easily know when their sunscreen is wearing off. It starts off as orange when removed from the packaging and turns purple when exposed to the sun, indicating it has been activated. When it becomes dark brown it is time to immediately reapply sunscreen.

If the band turns a salmon color, the user should get out of the sun completely, having approached the recommended daily limit of UV radiation. Four simple steps and users can avoid painful sunburn or even sun poisoning.

Developed by a nuclear physicist, the UVSunSense wristband uses advanced technology to measure the ultraviolet– or UV – radiation present in sunlight.

Why You Need UVSunSense

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But data also show that most skin cancers can be prevented with the right protection from harmful UV rays. The UVSunSense wristband is a tool that takes the guesswork out of keeping yourself and your loved ones sun-safe.

When most people apply sunscreen they are unaware that the SPF value is highly subjective to several factors: the type of activity (athletics, swimming etc.), the chemical properties of the sunscreen base, and the date the sunscreen is purchased and opened. All of these factors can dramatically alter the effectiveness of a sunscreen: sometimes, a sunscreen’s efficacy is revealed only after one gets sunburn!

Protection from sun damage is key to keeping your skin healthy and youthful. By telling you when to re-apply, UVSunSense will help prevent the wrinkles and sun spots caused by prolonged sun exposure, saving you money spent on future beauty products.

The UVSunSense wristband is a sure way to monitor sun exposure and protect yourself from harmful skin damage because it is susceptible to the same conditions you are. It delivers accurate monitoring in real-time under identical conditions as the wearer’s.

“UV radiation is dangerous, pure and simple,” said Dr. Levine. “Even the most responsible people who are vigilant about using sunscreen – and especially those who apply it to their children – are at the mercy of factors such as the environment and even the shelf life of their sunscreen.

A monitoring device such as the UVSunSense wristband is the only sure way to know when you need to reapply protective sunscreen. There is nothing else like it on the market today.”

Daily Hair Tip
When towel drying wet hair never rub hair roughly or twist up into a towel. This will potentially damage delicate hair cuticles. Instead carefully blot hair with superabsortant towel and squeeze hair gently to remove moisture.
