Hair Thieves On A Hair Stealing Spree In Atlanta

Hair Thieves On A Hair Stealing Spree In Atlanta

Atlanta is the scene of a major hair stealing spree.  Four beauty supply stores have been hit in a short period of time.

Burglars recently struck King’s Beauty Supply store in the wee hours of the morning located at 2400 Highway 138, shattering glass and stealing many thousands of dollars in hair extensions in the process.

There were three suspects and in addition to the hair, cash and other beauty supply items were taken.

The burglary at King's in the second one in just two days and one of a string of burglaries in the metro Atlanta area.

Just two days earlier the front door at Angie's Beauty Supply located at 1145 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard was rammed by a Grey Jeep Cherokee with GA Tag ADC 8202.

Four suspects entered the store after ramming it with the Jeep and stole an undetermined amount of hair extensions and other beauty supply items.   They left the scene of the crime in a dark colored minivan.

Hair thieves also recently stole 470 packs of synthetic hair worth an estimated $67,200 at Beauty Master II at 3755 Carmia Drive.

Although suspects in a white Ford Explorer attempted to ram the front door of Lakewood Beauty Supply and Furniture Store at 2869 Lakewood Avenue they appeared to have been scared off by the alarm which was triggered.  Although the front doors were damaged, nothing appeared to have been stolen.

On June 16th, police responded to an alarm at Beauty Master at 3031 Headland Drive where they found shattered glass and scattered items inside the building.  Police reported that the burglars stole almost $15,000 worth of Indian Remy hair.

On May 26, four or five masked men wearing gloves rammed a car through the front door of a Clayton beauty supply store, and stole an estimated $10,000 in hair extensions.

Hair thieves are not limiting their hair robberies to just the Atlanta area.  A man in Dearborn, Michigan was murdered in a hair robbery related crime.  Two people have been tried for the crime and sentenced to life in prison.  Robbery of hair has become a growing concern across the United States.

There are a lot of reasons that hair robberies have increased at such a rapid rate.  Until recently robbers did not realize how valuable add-on hair was.

Until the the recent rash of robberies started happening many beauty supply stores and large salons never worried about burglaries.

Now many are evaluating more secure methods of storing their hair supplies to safeguard them from smash and crime crimes.
