PBA Announces 2010 Sally Beauty Excel Scholarship Winners

Phoenix, AZ (February 10, 2010) - The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is pleased to announce the 2010 recipients of the PBA | NCA Sally Beauty Excel Scholarship.

Over 200 applications were received and although the selection process was difficult given the high caliber of applicants, the PBA | NCA committee responsible for awarding scholarships is proud to announce the following awards in each of the three qualifying categories.

Five - $1,000 scholarships have been awarded to high school graduates, under the age of 26, desiring to enter the cosmetology profession.

The 2010 winners are:

Jamie Boyd - Spokane, WA

Hilary Honadel - Havre, MT

Sylvia Loya - Phoenix, AZ

Genevieve Rucker - Coeur d'Alene, ID

Cassia Vinson - Odessa, MO

Three - $1,000 scholarships have been awarded to current PBA | NCA section members

for continuing education in the field of cosmetology.

The 2010 winners are:

Kip Lamaison - Palmdale, CA

Melissa Saenz - Montgomery, IL

Pneurissa Stamps - Chicago, IL

Two - $1,000 scholarships have been awarded to deserving children or grandchildren of current PBA | NCA section members pursuing advanced education at the college  level.

The 2010 winners are:

Charles Carillon - Jacksonville, FL, son of NCA Section member William Carillon

Lauren Paytes - Cincinnati, OH, daughter of NCA Section member Sean Paytes

The PBA | NCA Sally Beauty Excel Scholarships are funded by Sally Beauty Supply and administered by PBA. Applications are reviewed by a committee appointed by the President of the NCA section.

All scholarship awards are final and winners will be recognized at the Premiere Orlando show in June 2010.

In mid-April 2010, applications for the 2011 PBA | NCA Sally Beauty Excel Scholarships will be made available. Applications will be due November 15, 2010.
