On the Today Show, the second hour, co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda started their show by "defending Jessica Simpson." Although I wasn't away of the cartoon which was shown on Fox/TV last Sunday on October 11th which made fun of Jessica's up and down weight as well as her past relationship with Tony Roma.
Kathie Lee and Hoda said someone has to stick up for Jessica Simpson because she has done anything to anyone. Kathie Lee and Hoda ask why is she getting picked up on? However, Kathie Lee and Hoda both said the "guys on their show were laughing" at the cartoon making fun of Jessica's weight blowing up.
In fact, they admitted they were laughing even as the segment was being aired live. At one point the co-hostesses threatened to name names of the guys laughing about Jessica.
The cartoon, which I caught when it aired, featured players from the Dallas Cowboys football team joking about Jessica's weight gain last Winter, which forced Jessica to fight off worldwide criticism that she was fat.
Adding insult to injury the carton skit also featured references to Jessica's ex-beau Tony Romo who has moved on to a new blonde. The carton referenced the fact Tony stayed with Jessica even after she appeared to gain weight.
In the minute-long short, starter Marion Barber says, "Man, I still can't believe Tony [Romo] dated Jessica Simpson, even after she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams!"
Simpson was reportedly dumped by Romo the night before her birthday.
In the cartoon an animated Coach Wade Phillips, which is not common to see, says, "say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!"
Jessica responded with a Tweet on Twitter that said "i will never understand why people attack for a laugh," she wrote. "own your beauty and don't listen to the judgement."
Fox and Burger King have publicly apologized to singer Jessica Simpson for a shocking skit that aired on Sunday Night Football last weekend.
