In the days before his shocking and untimely death on Friday, August 28th, Adam Goldstein (36), known as "DJ AM" was reportedly (TMZ & People.com) "completely devastated" over his recent breakup with beautiful blonde model Hayley Wood. Various sources close to DJ reported that Wood called off the relationship several days ago.
DJ AM, was found dead in his New York City apartment late on Friday afternoon. Police sources are currently saying that drugs may have been involved in his death. A crack pipe and prescription pills were found in the Manhattan apartment, said a law enforcement official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.
Some of his DJ friends have spoken out and said they did not believe DJ AM would have taken drugs since he survived a plane crash in September of 2009 with Travis Barker which killed four others and had developed a new appreciation for life.
Although DJ AM was supposedly distraught over his love woes, his career was in full swing. He had a new MTV series called "Gone Too Far" which helped people with addictions to drugs, alcohol and related. DJ AM was not only known for his performance career but the fact he underwent weight reduction surgery some years back and lost a significant amount of weight, which he managed to keep off since the original loss.
Adam had in the past battled multiple addictions and even claimed that he had previously attempted suicide.
In addition to being one of America's most popular disc jockeys, DJ AM was also known for being at one point engaged to Nicole Richie. He appeared in the television shows "Punk'd" and "Entourage."
