Dr. Alan Bauman instructs other doctors on how to use the new machine-assisted minimally-invasive hair transplant surgery with NeoGraft.
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) July 2, 2009 - Bauman Medical Group recently completed the world's first NeoGraftTM Live Surgery Workshop.
It was an educational event specifically designed for hair restoration physicians. It successfully demonstrated NeoGraft'sTM potential to enhance minimally-invasive hair transplant procedures.
Hosted by board-certified hair restoration physician Alan J. Bauman, M.D., the June 26th event was attended by more than 25 physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country.
"NeoGraft is an exciting device because it dramatically enhances the speed, efficiency, and accuracy of follicular-unit extraction - the most minimally-invasive type of hair transplant available today,"
Dr. Bauman said. "My team and I are extremely proud to be chosen by NeoGraft Resource Group to be able to host the first live surgery workshop in the world to showcase this device."
The one-day event included scientific lectures on the history of minimally-invasive hair transplants, FDA-approved medical treatments for hair loss, hairline design and artistry in hair transplantation, as well as a 'live' hair transplant procedure performed with the NeoGraftTM device.
Through video-conferencing and direct observation, attendee physicians were able to observe as well as ask questions to the patient and surgical team while the procedure was underway.
NeoGraft is the product of more than 10 years of European research and development.
Updated and ergonomically enhanced for today's microsurgical, minimally-invasive hair transplant procedures, the mechanical NeoGraft extraction device works as an extension of the surgeon's hands.
It assists in the individual extraction of hair follicles, a process called follicular-unit extraction or "FUE," which leaves no linear scar.
The Neograft device also includes two 'no-touch' implantation hand-pieces. These allow the gentle implantation of the harvested grafts into the skin using positive and negative air pressure.
FUE is performed by only a handful of surgeons worldwide. It is gaining in popularity with both men and women. FUE no-scalpel/no-stitch hair transplant procedures are known to heal more quickly and more comfortably. They also have less post-op activity restrictions compared to more traditional, more invasive hair transplant procedures.
With no 'tell-tale' linear scar, FUE procedures allow for more flexible hairstyling options after healing.
Dr. Bauman has performed, lectured on, and demonstrated FUE procedures at Live Surgery Workshops sponsored by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery dating back to 2002.
He designed the first commercially-available manual device for FUE (the Bauman-MINDEX) around that same time.
