Sean Combs aka P.Diddy was recently on Ellen's show to dance, talk about Twitter and address Ellen's concerns about the Rihanna and Chris Brown situation. After Sean danced and they discuss Twitter, Ellen moved onto the Rihanna situation. For those not in the know, Chris Brown was accused of beating up singer Rihanna in the wee hours on the day of the Grammy Awards.
After Rihanna supposedly isolated herself away from Chris, she was eventually spotted with him spending time at Sean's home in Miami Beach. Many were incensed that Sean had given Rihanna and Chris sanctuary in his abode and blasted him for his actions. Ellen addressed the issues on her show.
After finishing the Twitter conversation Ellen said "good, OK, well this leads me to the perfect things that I want to clear up. There was a lot of talk going on about Chris Brown being at your place in Miami." At that point Sean took off his sunglasses, which he had been wearing from the beginning of setting foot out onto the stage. Ellen continued there was talk of "you arranging Chris and Rihanna getting back together. So do you want to talk about that?"
Sean said "I wouldn't use my Twitter to talk about that because that's somebody else's business." Ellen agreed "I know, but you gave them your house." Sean said "yeah, yeah, yeah but we're talking about Twitter and that's not how you use Twitter, that's something else."
Ellen said "lets not Twitter about it, lets talk about it. You clearly have a lot of people going...why would you do that? Why would you give Chris, a guy who hit a girl, and he's jet skiing around, I don't know. I don't understand. Listen I am a huge fan of Chris' and his music and he's a talented guy but to hit a girl?"
Sean appeared a little annoyed and said "because I know both of them and it's my house and I'm allowed to give my house to whomever I want to give my house too. That's #1 and #2, I'm the type of person that I don't cast a stone, don't cast a judgment on somebody. So if a friend or friends ask me for a favor and I know the energy of the favor is positive, for two people to sit down and talk about a situation they're in. I'm not going to get involved in it. I'm not going to pass judgment on it. If I could be there to be a friend during hard times then I'm going to be there as a friend. I don't know the particulars. I didn't get into, I'm not going to do this or that, it's a dark time for them and I was there more as a support."
Ellen nodded "I think you were coming from a place of friendship, of kindness and support. It's just hard for me. I don't believe in judgment either but I don't want any girl out there thinking its OK to go back to a guy who hit her. Its not OK."
Sean said "I don't think. You put me in it, so I don't think its right for anybody to hit anybody. We all have to be honest with ourselves and as adults and people who have been in relationships. We know sometimes those relationships get ugly. The way this has come out, a lot of stones are being thrown. We don't know exactly what's going on. These are two young individuals. We need to pray for them and we need to give certain support. But you don't need to start saying you know something and you don't know. You wasn't in that car, I wasn't in that car. It wasn't right for him to put his hands or her or her to put her hands on him. But we don't know what the problem is. We need to pray for them and we need to do things to support them. And that's all I want to say about that."
Ellen said "I agree." Then to soften the stress of the moment Sean said "can we dance?" Ellen laughed and that was the end of that segment with Sean P.Diddy Combs.
