Hollywood Hair Colorist George Papanikolas

Hollywood hair colorist Geroge Papanikolas took on the A-list clientele at Beverly Hills’ Chris McMillan, the Salon. The mega talented colorist was a transplant from West Hollywood’s John Frieda Salon.

Note: As of 2011 George hold courts with his amazing color tools at Andy Lecompte in West Hollywood and part time at Rita Hazan in New York.

George has been tinting the tresses of the industry elite for several years. He  teamed up with Joico--the professional hair care company known worldwide for the art of healthy hair--to support global public relations initiatives.

Trained under Negin Zand, the color director at John Frieda, George has developed a signature, sunny highlighting style that has caught the attention of Southern California’s most discerning blondes.

Using the French, freehand technique called “balayage,” he creates natural-looking, sun-kissed color that looks, he says, “like you’ve spent a summer at the beach, not three hours in the salon.” And highlight fans aren’t the only ones who benefit from his skill and artistry. High fashion blondes love the “rooty,” high contrast designs which, he says, were inspired by the likes of Gisele Bundchen and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Brunettes clamor for his progressive color designs characterized by rich color at the roots with luscious caramel-toned tips.

And his copper-gold, vibrant redheads are the new standard for this head-turning hue. It’s no wonder that George’s chair is the first stop for many of the new models being launched by L.A.’s hottest agencies, including Ford and L.A. Models.

Key ingredients in George’s natural looking color blends is a foundation of healthy, shiny hair. To keep strands in optimum condition, he often uses Joico’s K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor.

This award-winning hair fixer is packed with Joico’s unique Quadramine Complex, which transforms strands instantly, leaving hair stronger, glossier and easier to manage.

He’s also an early adopter of Joico’s new Design Collection for styling and finishing, citing the Dry Spray Wax and Molding Putty as ideal aids for his signature, day-at-the-beach looks.

Born and raised in Southern California, George’s signature color look is “inspired by the way a child’s hair looks after a whole summer playing on the beach. That’s what I try to give my clients.”
